I was curious if one of my goto's Sgammo was going to get some of the Barnaul. So I emailed them and they advised they sell it under the Wolf brand. Per Sgammo Barnaul actually makes all of Wolf, Bear, and the stuff in Generic Barnaul boxes they sell on their website. Sgammo should have Wolf back in stock in about a week for less than what the "Barnaul" is selling for now that I've seen on Ammoseek.

It makes sense since what you guys were seeing in the bullet measurements were about the same. So there goes my dream of a cheap Vasily Zaitsev sniper bullet
But who knows? Once some side by side accuracy tests are done it wouldn't be surprising if some rifle's perform better with the Barnaul.

Has anyone checked the new Barnual bullets to see if they react to a magnet. I assumed these 100 grain FMJ would be the copper washed steel jacket bullet like is used in the Wolf steel case ammo.

You got my hopes up, fox! So, slightly different jacket, but still mild steel for sure? Not that it bothers my pistol...

I'm liking the word about Wolf remaining cheaper than the "new" Barnaul, we'll have to see what the word is about side by side accuracy and velocity performance. I'm fine with what the Wolf does in my firearms - for what I use it for.

Has anyone had a chance to compare wolf MC to the Barnaul side by side in the same weapon? Does it perform better on average with typical American barrels. I have a 12 inch psa that will do 4 inch on average with the wolf at 100 yards. Shooting a 8 inch plate at 200 yards it starts to get a little unpredictable. Thanks.

Well from what I’m reading it’s the same, never mind. Might just have to use colet and pull-reload with an American pill if I can do so economically and reasonably fast. I love reloading but the brass cost is counterproductive

When is somebody going to shoot this stuff and report back the results? Please start a new thread when you do.

From what I can tell - It's Wolf Steel. Which is pretty typical, all Wolf Steel is someone else's factory ammo that they contract and label as Wolf Steel. This is that source ammo, so it's basically the same ammo.

Which is fine. I would have hoped it would be even cheaper than Wolf Steel, since cutting out a middle man, but apparently no. I suspect Wolf Inc. is well enough skilled at bulk importation that they can effectively do so cheaper than the manufacturer can direct, apparently.

Just got the back in stock notification email from Sgammo on the Wolf.

$138.75 total for 500, so .27c per rd most likely depending on zip code

                      $124.75 case price

                      Estimated Shipping Cost: $14.00
                      Estimated Shipping for 2: $20.00
                      Quantity in Stock:23

I'd grab some but still haven't decided on a 6.5G barrel/bolt combo direction yet. Decided to do a 223 Wylde build in the meantime when a deal popped up.

Has any one done a head to head range test on these?

Sounds like the exact same ammo manufactured by Barnaul that Wolf imported. I believe Barnaul is directly marketing their ammo under their name. Everything appears to the same, bullet, steel case and powder. Unfortunately same accuracy. Decent I guess for close range blasting ammo.
