What velocities are you guys getting with Hornady Black?

Hi guys,

I need some quick numbers as I just bought the Sig BDX optics system and I can imput some bullet information.

I have a 16" barrel and I'm trying to get some velocities. I believe I read most are getting around 2430 FPS out of a 16" barrel and using Hornady 123gr ELD ammo.

I will get real velocities once I break out my chronograph, but if you guys could give me some velocities, I'd appreciate it.

I'll be sighting in the Sig scope with Kilo 2200 tomorrow.

I must say I'm pretty impressed with the system, so far...even though I haven't sighted in the scope yet.

The barrel is a $50 BCA and I read all of the reviews...so far I'm getting MOA out of the first 40rds through the barrel. I have no issues spending more on a 6.5G barrel, but if this BCA barrel will shoot MOA, I'd be very happy for price point.

My 20" stainless barrel gives me slightly over 2,500 fps with the 123gr ELD ammo. Guessing your 16" is giving about 100 fps less.

I saw a thread somewhere on here with some velocities, but I wasn't able to locate it again. I should have taken a picture, so I'd have it.

Ok, so less than 2430FPS is what I"m seeing.

Run a search on chronograph data and you should get a few hits.

2460 avg in two lots, 74 rounds from my 18 LaRue. 2230 from my 12.7.

out of my 20in hardened arms barrel i got an avg of 2501, this was in 40 degree temps aswell

Out of my 20" PSA i'm getting 2546 .

About the same. My 20" PSA is giving me 2520 +/- 26 fps. Which isn't that great of a standard deviation in my opinion. I'm not that impressed with Hornady Black, I've never really been able to get very tight groups with that ammo in my gear. Accuracy performance is in the order of about 2 MOA for me, sometimes a little better, sometimes a little worse.
