    What ammo boxes ?

What is everyone using ? Small rifle is to small, medium rifle is to big. Suggestions appreciated.

I use the MTM case-gard RSS-50 and Plano 1228-50. The Plano I had to glue a piece of foam to the lid to take up space so rounds didn't fall out of place if the box flipped over. The case gard is a better container. Loaded rounds fit perfect. Empties will fall out of place if the box gets flipped. I may put some foam in the lid but it hasn't been that big of deal to me.

Frankfort 512 from Midway USA works perfectly for me. I also use them for 223 and 7.62x39.

I use the 20 round plastic cases for load development before using larger capacity cases. The 20 rounders I use are the Midway #209, the older Herter's .223 Cal and the Cabela's smoke gray 243/308 cases.

MTM RSS-50 works perfect for both 7.62x39 and 6.5 Grendel, obviously. local store don't (won't) carry them so i have to order them.

Caldwell boxes for 7.62x39 reportedly work perfectly with 6.5 Grendel.

                RS-50 for 223.

Put the Grendel in upside down. The plastic dividers support the round on the shoulder so the tip is suspended. Tight and compact. If you already have them give it a try.

I tried that the other day based on you suggesting this once before - and I'll be darned - that actually works! And like said, you can pretty much get 50 rounds in there that way, in a way smaller box. Kinda tidy!

But officially, the RSS-50 is the correct size for pointy-part-up.

I'm new to Grendel due to a rifle build for my son so have yet to put the RSS50 to work but I got 2 on Amazon for $5 each. I only use MTM because they are the most durable. Be advised, MTM uses an actual hinge instead of a piece of plastic that flexes and eventually breaks. As a bonus, they fit my 6.8mm cases just fine. Looking forward to filling and emptying these repeatedly.

                          Yes, they do!
Midway has them for 5 for $13.99

Like others have said, I like the MTM RSS-50 over the Frankford 512 because the MTM case has a hinged lid that will lay flat.

MTM on left, Frankford on right
