I bought some new Hornady 6.5 Grendel brass awhile ago. I was just now getting around to loading it. The question I have: Has anyone else noticed their new Hornady Grendel brass case lengths can vary up to .011" in length? The shortest cases measured 1.508" while the longest ones were 1.519". I had hoped they would all be closer to 1.510" (18 pieces = 1.510"; 15 pieces were under 1.510"; 17 pieces were over 1.510") Is this even a problem?
Some un-sized, once fired Hornady brass that I have runs from 1.520" to 1.525." Which leads me to an observation regarding the 6.5 Grendel Reloading Handbooks: In volume I, page 53, it says the trim length is 1.506" while in Vol. II, page 77, it says the minimum length is 1.520." It's a little confusing but I'll go by what I've learned from searching the forum for case length information. From what I've gathered, most folks trim to 1.510" if they trim at all.
Now, if I could only find my .264" trimmer pilot. I know I've got one somewhere...
