    Magneto Speed wont fit

So my rail is too long and wont clamp on my barrel. Tried to rig it to my rail but it was too far to get accurate readings. What have you guys done to alleviate this?

Magnet Speed Sporter, not the V3.

    EDIT:

I figured it out thanks to Monty!! Huge thanks.

I used 8/32 2" bolts, 2 nuts, 2 9mm cases with their primer pockets drilled out, 3/4" aluminum bar. Thats it. Had to buy 3' of the bar but in all it still only cost about $8.

Sporter could be tough, I don't know.
    2 options to try:
    1. raise the sensitivity of the blade in the MG settings.
    2. Take off the handguard for MV testing then put it back on.

Others who use the sporter may have some ideas.

There's supposed to be an extension rail/adapter you can get, to fasten the blade to the HG...

I've got the v3 but I also keep my HG's short enough so barrel is available to use.

The adapter they sell is for the v3 version not the sporter. Apparently the 2 mount differently, I have done been all over it a couple weeks ago

I don't think it works for the sporter

You could try the Wiser Precision chrono mount; it takes both V3 and Sporter. It attaches to a section of picatinny rail on the handguard. It works pretty well. I think other manufacturers make similar products.

This looks brilliant...may have to give this a run.

I've alleviated the problem by only installing handguards that are as long as necessary. In the instances when I've broken this rule, I take the handguard off.

True, that's a way to do it, but the Magnetospeed hanging off the barrel changes the harmonics, so you can't always trust your groups while you're getting muzzle velocities. That's may not be a big deal to a lot of people, but if I can do both at the same time, it's a nice option.

It changes the POI but not the harmonics. The problem is that if the Magnetto shifts under fire, it will shift the POI and make groups worse. The best way to alleviate that would be to only buy Proof Research CF barrels, but that could get expensive.

Those are both 4 shots. The flyer on the right was probably due to not loading the bipod fully

I made an adapter for my Magnetospeed to clamp onto a pic rail section. A quick release, piece of aluminum angle and a couple of .380 cases. Drilled the quick release and bolted it up. Works great. Can do velocity and accuracy testing at the same time.
