    grendel speed

    hi,

I'm new to grendel and today i did the 10 shot load development and got 2648fts with lapua scenar 123grn and N133 at 27.3 grains, no pressure signs, the rifle is a CZ 527 MTR , is this speed comum to the grendel? I usually see post wherepeople are strugling to get 2500fps.

    Any opinions are welcome
    Thanks

25" barrel? If so, that will help increase velocity. Most ARs have barrels 20" or under. But that velocity average does sound impressive for a 123gr bullet.

I'm sure others will be able to post with more helpful info. I don't have experience with that powder.

Barrel length, bullet weights, powder play into the velocity. I get 2450fps out of my 12" barrel shooting 110g maker trex. Ive seen posts of much higher velocities on here.

On AR's you get some FPS loss due to the gas port and how far from the muzzle it is. My pet load picks up about 75 FPS in a 22 inch barrel if I close off the gas port

            Lapua brass never fired
            Sellier bellot primers
            N133
            Lapua scenar 123grn

I prep the brass with a mandrel (264) and thats it

the lands are at 1.695 base to ogive and I load .005 of off it, the magazine lenght is no problem

I mean I'm no complaining it is just that never really seen speeds like this, you see the od one but when it happens to you, it nice

            thanks

Have had a keg of Lever laying around for a couple of years now and finally got around to trying some. Wow. Can’t believe the ES/SD numbers I’m seeing with it, especially being a spherical powder. Maybe Im late to the party and shouldn’t be surprised. Anyway........... Could be correct but if so, it would be an outlier.

Wonder about the chronograph, set up, and light conditions.

Chronographs are not perfect by any means. Good to get a decent idea but nothing to take as an absolute.
