    Unsafe ZSR .308 ammo

Listing this info in case you have or know someone with a .308 who uses ZSR ammunition.
there have been 4 guns blown up so far with this ammo- info as follows:
    ZSR ammunition 7.62x 51 M80 147gr bullets ZSR22J030-001 Lot # 015.

just posting as a public service announcement so hopefully no one uses this ammo & blows up their gun or worse.
Moderators feel free to move this wherever you deem necessary.
    thanks!

Saw this too. Dudes have lost M1As, a Zastava M77, and a PTR 91 so far.

It split that M1A SOCOM like a crisp log. Brutal

      Guys:

Just my opinion but when I see surplus NATO ball made in another country for sale here, I am really skeptical about its quality. The Turks wouldn't dump 7.62 NATO Ball on the market unless it failed one of their QC or storage tests.

Now, I happen to have some 'Ataturk' 8mm ball that was made in the late fifties or early 60s. Corrosive primers and all. Was five dollars a bandoleer and I bought a bunch. Actually it is good shooting service ball. That stuff was sold off because it was obsolete though.

There was some NATO M-80 made somewhere in SA I believe, that was being sold by the case for about $100.00 about forty years ago. I bought a case of it and thought it was pretty hot but I shot it all. Then I saw recall notifications because some of the rounds showed extremely dangerous pressures. Apparently a couple of rifles blew up shooting this ammo.

Would say it is wise to scrutinize NATO spec ammo being sold as surplus when the country is still using it for their military.

one of the guys who blew up their rifle ( an M1-A) pulled apart some of the rounds from this bad lot. it had ball powder, but had remnants of other powder types mixed in, he measured the powder charges,
and the charges varied by over 10 grains . 30 grains up to around 41 grains. 10 grains difference? "that's not ideal" .....just wow!!!
