Hornady just announced a new 100gr ELD-VT factory load for 6.5 Grendel, as part of their new ELD-VT Varmint bullet line.

ELD-VT is basically high BC varmint bullet concept with a hollow cavity up front, with the ELD-M Heat Shield tips to initiate expansion.

When I spent the time tracking down all the existing, new, and discontinued loads, even I was surprised to see that the industry is currently offering 124 different factory 6.5 Grendel loads, the newest being the Hornady 100gr ELD-VT, which I have purchased and shot already. Great bullet and load with really tight ES.

Based on the performance from the Federal 130gr Terminal Ascent, I think they would do well to offer that in a factory load as well. It has impressive expansion at 400yds.

The Cavity Back 105gr and 118gr bullets are like huge boat motors with sharp blades with up to triple caliber expansion for those looking for a great monolithic option.

There are so many factory ammo options for this cartridge today that it would be near impossible to purchase and try them all in a lifetime.

Up next on my list to test is the 123gr Fort Scott TUI, which have the highest BC of all the 123gr bullets at .587 G1. I’ll see how they do at 1000yds.
