    Brass Order

I was nursing a Midway order adding a thing or two over about a week, trying to get every little thing that I needed on the order. When I got around to sending it in, 6.5 Grendel Starline Brass was OUT OF STOCK "No Backorder".

6.5 Outfitters had 6.5 Grendel Brass a while back when I was on their site looking at 6 ARC Brass. So I checked back with them. They had 6.5 Grendel Starline Brass in stock. I ordered another 200 pieces, and they arrived yesterday. They must buy in bulk as they came repacked in a Zip Loc Bag. That probably helps them keep the price down. I am 100% sure that the order was processed and shipped the next business day after I made the order. My Midway Order which was placed the same day has not arrived so far. That says a lot about their processing orders. Totally Happy.

Vast difference in the size of the operations and volume of orders.

I have some Starline brass, but would really like to get some of the nickel plated. I have those for 300 blackout and they seem much more durable to me and the necks are much more concentric. I almost always run an expander, so that's not an issue, but the durability is the main reason.

I'm kinda kicking myself in the arse, a guy here had some Alexander and Lapua (both) and I waffled at the last minute and he sold them all. Starline is ok, but I'd rather have Lapua and would like to test the Starline nickel plated.

Dude you are in San Jose, I'm in Sacramento. If you want to try new lapua let me know, I have.... some. We can meet up at a range somewhere in the middle that isn't richmond rod and gun (because that place suuuuucks)

How far is concord from you? They have a decent 100 yard facility but the target stands are kinda not well designed. I got there from metcalf in 45 min due to metcalf being over crowded before.

For what it's worth, I ordered some .303Br brass last Friday (11/3) from Midway. The next day, Saturday, I ordered two bags (as you mentioned, it comes in bags) of 6.5G brass from SixFive. Both shipments arrived yesterday (11/10). Not bad, shipping time to San Diego, for either company.

Appreciate the offer, will keep it in mind. I bought 100 pieces of Starline Brass, but really wanted the nickel plated *OR* the Lapua. The fact that Lapua makes 6.5 Grendel is a huge plus, IMO.

Sacramento is not very close, 3 hours away. I belong to Konocti Rod & Gun Club, but it's in Kelseyville, also about 3 hours from you. I occasionally get up there to buy tools, if I do I'll ping you.

Eventually this dry spell will pass, IMO. I have a 12" barrel arriving tomorrow, as well as a box of 100 grain TTSX bullets. I have a 10" DSG handguard I'll use with it.

This will pit my 300 blackout against my 6.5 Grendel, but I'm confident the 6.5 Grendel will win hands down. Weight is the issue I need to see in black and white.

I am currently playing with the 300 HAM'R and 6.5 Grendel.
I have everything for the 6.5 Grendel AR15 Build, except the barrel. I even have the 6.5 Grendel Dust Cover. Waiting on the barrel from Compass Lake. I should get it around the first of February with luck. It should be worth the wait.

I've been taking my dust covers off. They really don't do much, and just seem like another component that could cause failure at some point.

IMO, it doesn't change the fact that you still need to remove the BCG, oil it up like a squealin' piggy, and keep it functional.

What type of barrel are you planning on getting?

I use caliber-specific dust covers on all my ARs- helps make sure the wrong ammo doesn't get loaded. 5.56mm, Grendel and .350L For the price they're worth it. Some of them won't even stay closed (no detent) but they tell anyone what the rifle shoots.

This is a great idea. I'd never really thought of it that way.

Yes to caliber-specific dust covers. I don't like too much branding and stuff on the outside of a gun; just too much clutter and commercialism for my taste.

However, if you've got multiple calibers in similar builds, it's very, very helpful to have some kind of caliber ID.

We sell dust covers with the caliber on the inside of the cover.

The barrel is a Compass Lake using a Douglas Blank.

20 Inch Heavy Profile (Probably H-Bar)
                        1 in 8 Twist
                        Rifle Gas .750
                        Threaded 5/8-24
                        Polished SS Finish
They have my Bolt for Head Space.

About the Dust Cover. I have a 22LR, 5.56 Carbine, 5.56 Precision 20", 204 Ruger, 300 HAM'R, 6.5 Grendel, and I am pretty sure I will own a 22 ARC as soon as they get ammo out. Marked Dust Covers are handy. I also have Branded Magazines Bands.

                        And the wait continues.

Dian is that where you get the brass that you shoot all the great looking groups with? They have their brass priced about as good as I have seen.
I have been going through all the Reloading Posts gathering up 120 grain Loading Data to compare, and you have several fantastic targets on display going back a couple years. You have your reloads dialed in pretty well.
