    156 gr Norma Oryx

I wondered if anyone had experience with this bullet in the Grendel.
Obviously very heavy bullet for the cartridge, I saw one member talking about loading it with RL17.
has anyone else played around with it? Curious if it would play well with Leverevolution or PP2000MR or some other powder in an AR.

Yeah, that's a heavy bullet for the Grendel. I've been curious if anyone even shoots a 140 grain in the 6.5 Grendel? I have a box of 140 grain SSTs.

Mostly those are used by 6.5 CM shooters, and you're talking 16 grains heavier.

I’ve seen it used in the 6.5x55 Mauser while hunting in Finland, but never from 6.5 Grendel.

It’s a candidate for subsonic suppressed use in Grendel, but I doubt it will expand at those velocities.

Apparently it has a minimum expansion velocity of 1500 fps from what I could gather. It also appears to be surprisingly short given it's mass.

I remembered discussion of these heavy round nose bullets in the 6.5 Grendel. One forum member used the 156 round nose soft points for hunting in Maine. I couldn’t find the specific thread but I did find the threads listed below. The google custom search is a great tool for find specific information about the 6.5 Grendel. Norma 156 grain Oryx, threads found using google custom search

Just a quick drive-by to give a quick update on some work I did earlier this year (May) developing some high sectional density deer hunting loads for big body deer in thick cover - i.e. 156 Oryx + 160 Hornady RN, super sonic loads from a 16-inch, 6.5mm Grendel. My original threads are archived somewhere and when I get a chance

...for hunting larger bodied, big game, and/or those tough pig shoulders. In an ongoing effort to explore heavy bullets in the 6.5 Grendel to maximize hunting penetration for larger bodied game animals, today I focused on 156 grain Norma Oryx. For my ongoing bullet efforts with the 160 grain Hornady round nose, see here:

You might search these bullets as they might show up in the search of this forum. I only searched for the Norma 156 grain Oryx. Graf’s have all but the Norma Oryx in stock.

            . Thats actually quite good!!

many cup n core bullets are about 1800fps & coppers will say 2000+ but 2400 is closer to reality ta see expansion most expect. 2000 fps is STARTING expansion....
