    RCBS 5-0-5 Scale Needle Modification

Does anyone have any experience modifying the RCBS 5-0-5 Scale with a needle to prevent parallax from being an issue.

I'd like to do this, but I don't won't to destroy my scale in the process.

just don't see the benefit of this unless you have really bad eyes.. got enough stuff on the reloading bench already
    YMMV

you could just glue a needle in place but you will need to recalibrate the scale or you could just get a 1010 but honestly most powders throw really well at this point such as it is unnecessary to weigh every charge if your powder thrower doesn't drop consistently you would be better served with a better powder dispenser

The best solution I've found is a magnifying prism made by Dandy Products, it works like a charm and allows you to have the scale below eye level. It works better than a needle pointer.

I have an Ohaus scale that is the same as the RCBS 505 and I had it calibrated by Scott Parker so that it is both more sensitive and more accurate than a stock scale. I also have a Targetmaster auto trickler. It uses a light sensing diode to stop the trickler when the beam approaches the zero mark on the scale. The Omega auto trickler is nearly as good and probably a better deal since it is made in the USA.

I don't use the scale for my short line loads, 200 and 300 are plenty good enough just loaded on the Dillon but for my serious 600 and longer range loads I use the scale and loadmaster to get all loads to within .05 grains. I don't really think it is any more accurate than thrown loads, but it gives me a mental edge, knowing my loads are near perfect.

See a video of the targetmaster auto trickler.
