They both shoot great from my AA chambers, in both the 28" and 20" versions. The Hornady is loaded to factory ammo length, the Scenar to 2.26. I can load out to 2.295 in my mags. The factory Hornady will hold 1/2 MOA at 1000 yards when its calm. I haven't ever shot the Scenars out that far.

I get the application, just trying to understand the expectation for MV.
How about 2650 Ave from a 123 grain .510 BC bullet using a 22" tube?
Would that be an improvement?

I went and found my notes and photographed them. Easier than trying to explain.
I borrowed a modified case at the time so can't re-measure the Scenar. I gave up on that bullet so........
The 2 photos of the chronographed numbers are my best 2 loads to date. As already mentioned the Varget is too slow as everyone already knows.
The 5 targets was my last visit to the range.
320 yds.
This is my AA 2520 load. The wind was approx 15 to 20K. ( the flags were almost straight out at the range )
I am pleased with the results since the wind was howling. Note all the groups bar one shot has a vertical spread of 2" or less. Vertically that is 0.625 MOA.
FWIW average shooter with average gun!!

I get almost exactly that, which does the job for me. Look at the photo which shows the average, ES and SD.Originally posted by SG4247 View PostI get the application, just trying to understand the expectation for MV.

That is my goal but I would have liked my gun to shoot the Scenar with the slightly higher BC and I also had a couple of thousand of them!!!

Okay, well this is 8208 at 28.4 grains loaded to 2.260" mag length 123 Amax. Very accurate and shoots .5 MOA at 300 yds in good conditions. Use at your own risk!!!!
Have not tried to push this further. Will run 2670 fps at 82F and 1250 ft elevation with no pressure signs.
Have not found a Grendel load that beats it, even on paper, looking for suggestions.
I could load up beyond the 28.4 of 8208, seat the bullet past 2.260" keep compression at <105% and hand feed them. I might take look at that with the chrony next week end.
I have 100 grain Berger Target, 108 Scenars, 123 Scenars sitting here, and no powder that I think will not overfill the case and push these bullets better than the attached 123 Amax load.
Any additional thoughts would be appreciated.
