I do use a torque wrench for my scope rings. I'll have to ask the smith which reamer he used. I have a rock river national match trigger in the rifle.

Round count is in the 160-170 range through this barrel, so maybe I need to give it a little more time. I guess I might have been spoiled to the krieger barrels lately, the first group out of my 308 bolt gun was .4 and within 20 round of factory ammo I was shooting into the .1's and .2's for five shots.

I might try some of the 107 SMK's I have and try to pick up a box of 123 amax just to see if the scenars don't jump well.

Time for an update. I'll admit I had put my grendel in the safe and hadn't looked at it because I was so disappointed at how it was shooting....

It turns out this whole time I have been fighting bad scope. When i previously switched scopes I didn't have my torque wrench with me and I guess that threw a kink in things. I properly installed a different scope and took out some factory ammo to get a baseline. First two groups of the day were .248 and .218 center to center. This was the Hornady 123 AMAX load. I didn't shoot more because I wanted to save some ammo to run over the chronograph.

I hate to admit it took me a year to get to this point, but I feel much better knowing that the rifle is a good shooter. Now to really start using it!

Glad you got that sorted out! Now that you know you have a real shooter, it's a very exhilarating feeling, isn't it? Trouble is, you might not be able to beat those factory load results, even though gut instinct (and historical results) says you should be able to. I have shot my best groups with Hornaday AMAX and SST loads and it's driving me nuts that I haven't been able to beat them, despite near "benchrest level" of devotion to ammo preparation. Granted, I have not spent a lot of time in load development with those bullets, but despite trying some of the favorite recipes mentioned here or in the Grendel Reloading Manuals, I haven't found a consistent sub 3/4 MOA load yet. Maybe my expectations are too high.
