Drop from 100 yards to 300 yards

For a 120 grain bullet with you favorite CFE powder charge, what is the drop from a 100 yard zero to 300 yards. I would guess something like 12" but have no experience with the Grendel. Alternatively, if I zero 3" high at 50 yards with same load, how would I look at 300 yards?

I zero at 50 yes and that is usually pretty close at 200 yds. This gives you pretty mush a point and shoot effective range of 300 on deer size game. I try to get better numbers if I am popping groundhogs

Your probably around 11" difference from 100-300

If you zero at 50/200 it's only about 9" drop

Mine fall about 14.5 inches at 300 when zeroed at 100 . Kinda depends on the velocity and SD of the bullet. But the way I do it is to figure point blank range. PBR for me is about 6 inches. That means my bullet will never be below 3 inches or above 3 inches ogf the center of my cross hairs. Very useful in hunting. I site in 2.5 inches high at 100 yards and know my bullet will never be more than 3 inches low or 3 inches high out to 260 yards

I was just shooting 100 and 200yds Saturday. My 18" Lilja dropped about 4" I think. I was zero with my scope turret at zero when I went there, and it's on .4 Mils now, which is where I left it.

That's with 123gr SST and 120gr Scenar-L from PF. Both loads were grouping in the same place over each other. I shot 3rds of SST, then 5 rounds of 120gr Scenar-L, and they all fell within 2-2.9" of each other in the same area. I'll post pics sometime.

          I'm at 4400ft elevation.

Could you venture a guess 100 to 300? My purpose in asking is merely to get a group at 300 yards within, say, 3 or 4 inches of target to eliminate a lot of back and forth setting up a new scope. The match I am setting up for uses the Speedwell TQ-20 target and I aim for the neckline for elevation and the 10 ring is about 2.25 inches below so for a first guess lower is better. I will be using a PF with a 16" barrel and probably Lapua 120s and CFE. I will also try the PF 130 Berger hybrids.

Nobody will know other than a complete wild a55 guess without more information. Velocity and air temp at the very least to just throw blind numbers out.

Take the info you have an throw it into this online calculator and it will tell you what you need to know.

The calculator got 15" - thanks. One guess above was 14.5 and the other was 11" Any one of those numbers is close enough for the first group at 300. I will have to make an adjustment in elevation regardless of the science in the estimate and 10 clicks or 15 clicks is immaterial. I thought I made it clear that I was only trying to get close for the first go round.

If you did the PBR at 50 yards what would put you close (just close) at 300? Is that possible?

                    120gr Lapua @ 2400fps
                    scope height 2.5 inches
                    300 yard zero 2.4" high @ 50, 5.7" high @ 100, 7.2" high @ 150, 6.9" high @ 200, 4.5 high @ 250. Those are some serious mid range marks for hunting.

Of course altitude, pressure and your true velocity will change those numbers some. I used 2400 for those calculations but in reality that I think is optimistic with a 16 inch barrel while staying in the safe pressure relm.
