musical chairs w/ uppers: should carrier stay w/ upper or bolt?

I have a complete 223 upper and I'm putting together a 6.5 grendel upper. I like how the 223 upper fits better with the lower, so I want to strip down the 223 upper, and use that stripped upper for the 6.5 grendel. The question is; should I keep the carrier with the upper and drop in my 6.5 bolt or keep the bolt and carrier together?

You should not have any problems moving carriers around, from one upper to another. The only time that would cause an issue is if you have an adjustable gas block and have it set for a light weight carrier and try using a full mass carrier.

Bolts on the other hand could potentially cause the headspace to change if you were swapping those as well. But your just talking about the carrier only if I read your post correctly.

Strip it and rebuild it with your grendel parts and use the same bcg and bolt your using in the grendel now.

Just get another complete lower so you have 2 complete rifles as well.

Prices are still very affordable for now.
