so i was email a barrel manufacturer and asking about their chamber

i did not expect this response. can anyone enlighten me?
We've been using the .264 LBC chamber for the past year and it's completely fixed the problems we had been having using the Grendel reamer (pressure issues and accuracy limitations).

Rabiddawg has it right - run!

We've been around this cesspool a few times already.

If they really had that experience, verify that the reamer maker confirmed that the reamer was cut to the SAAMI specification. Then follow up with the question "Who made the nominal SAAMI-spec reamer and how many times was it re-sharpened?"

Odds are it was made by someone who does not use an optical comparator to verify the finished diameter. Most reamers have an odd number of flutes so calipers are useless.

The other possibility it was made by someone who intensely dislikes the 0.5 degree taper and introduced his own unpublished "improvements."

Or, the sharpening was done by someone who did not understand that the compound throat really needs that 0.5 degree taper - again the optical comparator is important for verifying dimensions.

I wonder where they got their reamer from, or how they were treating it.

I've never seen a chamber that shoots so many different bullet types so well. Accuracy limitations with a real Grendel chamber with the compound throat?

The compound throat was made to specifically address accuracy, and does it extremely well.

See, I'm only smart enough to respond " run". On the other hand JASmith can tell you why you should run

If you want a Bartlien, go to Precision Firearms. I'm pretty sure Mark chambers them himself. I have one and love it.

Your first post said you're looking for a SAAMI chamber with a 0.136" bolt face. I'd agree that's a good starting point.

Just be sure that's what your chosen vendor is selling you.

As I said in a way earlier post if they won't give you the info you or looking for then best bet is to take your buisness to a company that will.

My first grendel had one of the " other " chambers and it shoot ok but never could get under a inch three round groups with it, my rifle I have now I built myself and went with the sammi chamber and it will shoot under a inch and have shoot half in groups at 100.

So if your in the market for a barrel bolt combo and want it to be sammi spec, PF, JP, AA, is where it's at and no need to shop anywhere other then them.

Just my two cents sir hope it helps.
