    Saturn Barrel for Hunting

    Folks

New to the 6.5 Grendel scene and thinking of putting one together
I have a .223 Wilde Krieger VarMatch 20" on my AR and even being fluted once you get everything on it it's heavy
I was thinking of ordering a barrel in lite contour from Saturn
Hoping it would be a lot easier to carry or even a fluted med weight
Something about 18" is there any downside to this as far as accuracy goes ?
My main purpose will be coyotes-deer plus a little paper punching
    Accuracy is a must
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has done a similar build
    Sorry for the long post
Thank you in advance for your time and help

Do a search for "liberty group buy" and see how satern treats its Grendel customers.

If you want an accurate light weight barrel, look no further than the Alexander Arms fluted 16".

I have not shot mine for groups. Have not had the time. Barely had time to get it zeroed at 200 and ready for hunting season. Regardless, I can already tell it's not going let me down. Many others have had the same results.
Knowing everthing isnt as important as knowing where to find it.

They are great barrels. Just make sure to ask for .076" gas port if you go 18" MLGS, and insist on a SAAMI reamer.

Some of the most accurate Grendel's I've seen are the old AA/Satern-barreled guns that shoot boringly well even at 700yds.

      Bwaites has a 20" and 28" that shoot 8rds into the .2s and .3s.

I have a fluted 18" Satern I've been thinking about selling.

I bought a 18" stainless steel 6.5 Grendel barrel and bolt combo from Brownells for $299. Shoots great groups. They can be hard to get, always on and off backorder. Only suggestion I have on this barrel is to get an adjustable gas block. My was overgassed and worked the bolt too hard.

This is the Satern (notice "e" not a "u") barrel I have. An older 18" AA/Satern cut-rifled, fluted, bead-blasted stainless steel. I can't keep up with it! Nice barrel.

            There are 2 satern barrels

The cheap button rifled liberty barrels

And their cut rifled premium barrels. I have had a 20" cut rifled.barrel ordered for 9 months. No word yet.

Got frustrated and bought a lightweight.JP. VERY PLEASED. Had it to my door in a week.

Of course if.satern ever gets around to making cut.rifle barrels again I will take it.
