Alexander Arms 6.5 Grendel upper on any Ar-15 lower?

First, I'm going to have a 6.5 Grendel soon. With its low recoil, highly effective ballistics, and low rifle weight, it's just what I want.

What's your experience with the AA upper? I have an 18"-barreled 6X45mm '15 on the way (some day, but that's another story) and am thinking of adding the AA upper instead of an entire rifle.

I'm concerned about fit, compatibility, reliability, etc.

I have bought, built and swapped multiple uppers of many different calibers from builders far less reputable than Alexander Arms onto my AR15 lower. I don't own any AA products, but that's more a function of my limited budget than anything.

You shouldn't have any issues with fitment, reliability or compatibility.

6.5 Grendel was engineered to fit inside the AR15, with full compatibility in receivers, with nothing more than either a complete upper and mags, or for builders, barrel, bolt, and mags.

I picked up a 16" Incursion upper from AA earlier this year and I'm using a Colt 6920 lower with it. I'd say it actually fits better than the factory Colt upper.

OK guys--TYVM for your observations. Probably will order something tomorrow; the 308-chambered 'AR-10' turned out to be too heavy.

Living up to my wife's occasional labeling of me as 'Mr. Excess', I already have lots of appropriate powders and some bullets here and on the way, along with dies.

This is posted under every upper description on Alexander Arms;

This unit is 100% complete and is compatible with any standard-specification lower receiver (no modifications required)

If the pins, hammer and magwell are where they are supposed to be, it will work. I don't know of any AR15 lower out there that is so proprietary that it won't work on.

What about a Sig M400 lower?

I had the exact same idea. I bought a Sig Sauer M400 primarily for hog hunting. It's a great gun to shot. Yet I believe 6.5 Grendel would perform better--especially in the brush. Which would be a better upper--Alexander Arms or Odin Works?

I have a 24" Alex Arms upper on a NFA composite lower. works great. I shoot it at 600y. Will move to 1k some time soon. I also have another exact same NFA composite lower on my ar 7.62x39, works excellent there also.
