Is this suppose to hang to the right?

I got a new barrel and it seems to be off set to the right.IMG_20170501_192756128.jpgIMG_20170501_192756128.jpg

Send it back and tell them you want the hole drilled in the center of the barrel.

Seriously. That thing can't shoot straight with that much eccentricity.

It appears the bore is off center. Did you contact the manufacturer?

I remember reading about this...If you push a drill too fast it drifts. Inconsistent quality metal has soft and hard spots that can 'guide' the drill off axis. It might still shoot straight if the bore angle is attached to the receiver to be perfectly vertical (so it cancels out any false windage). But this is unlikely, especially if the same people who drilled the barrel also chambered and fitted the extension.

Bottom line, no sense in you putting up with someone else's mistake.

Get out your mic and measure it before sending it back. That should have never made it out the door!

.174 on the right and .184 on the left
measured from inside bore to exterior threads

If the threads are 0.010 off, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole. If the bore to the od was 0.010 off, that's not uncommon( I think I've seen up to 0.050), but the threads need to be closer to 0, especially with a suppressor.

Someone must have missed with their center punch and the Harbor Freight hand drill.

I believe the rule of thumb is 7 times the diameter is the maximum drill bit length to prevent walking of the bit.... Maybe a machinist by trade will chime in....

maybe, but it whould have been centered when the barrel was profiled.
most blanks are 1" or more in diameter when drilled
then the barrel is machined to the final profile, the bore should be the center, not the center of the material
                          just some targets for printing

Looks to me that the threads and crown were cut in a three jaw without being indicated to '0'. If original deep drilling walked, which even with the best barrels you still get some curve, that would disappear on the exterior if the bore were running true before cutting threads and crown. Depending on length of barrel now, you can have someone that's competent cut threads off and rethread/crown. Keep us posted on what u hear from mfr.

Not sure on legalities of u sending to me or someone else on here with a lathe, as I don't have an ffl yet. But the mfr should make it right.

No, but I was smirking a bit before I did.
