24" AA Overwatch with Cheap Shaw barrel Shooting American Gunner Ammo

I decided to take out my 24" Grendel Overwatch for a test drive.
    Hornady American Gunner Ammo
    16X SWFA SS scope
    "Cheap, Rack Grade" Shaw barrel
80% Lower with Delton 2 stage trigger
It looks like all groups are less than 1 MOA.
Not too bad for me. I am not sure I would be able to do much better with a "Good" barrel.
I think a higher power scope would be better for me. Maybe one of them 24X Vortexes.
I think I will try drawing my targets closer to 0.25 MOA.

I've always liked the ER shaw barrels on savage bolt guns. Looks like they work pretty well on ARs too!

I was told in one of my previous posts about my Overwatch that they were cheap barrels so I thought I should mention it.
It is good enough for me. I would buy another Shaw barrel. Pricewise, they seem to be midprice, like Ballistic Advantage or Faxon.

I have shot my best groups from simple drawn circles on white paper.
With factory targets I end up aligning the cross hairs with the large circle or diamond instead of aiming at the small spot I am trying to hit.
I will look for simple black stick on dots and try those.
I could try black thumb tacks.
Then I could find out if my barrel is a tackdriver.
I have been meaning to bring some light bulbs to the the range. Then I could shoot "lights out".

Or you could arrange to have some insects crawl on your targets and shoot bug- . . . .

I often will just shoot a hole in a blank piece of paper and use that for a aim point lol

What did Jed and Jethro smear on the gatepost in Beverly Hills so they could shoot flies? Was it jam?

DCM, I like that idea as well.

Some of the smallest groups I have ever shot were on targets that I made by drawing a triangle colored in with a black marker on a white piece of paper. Put the cross hair on the tip of the top of the triangle. Aim small miss small.

Aim small miss small. I haven't heard that in a long time. Thanks for the reminder.

                    A 12ga shotgun shell is just under MOA, a 20ga is 3/4, a .410 is .5.

                    Targets of opportunity.

Girlfriend did theses (kept them to boost her confidence). Makeshift game at 100y sticking these in the cardboard target backer. 20-30 of them, each person shoots until they miss, then the next person. Have to go L-R, Top to Bottom to keep track of really bad misses (wrong shell disappears).

                    Catchy sig line here.
