First post here. I bit on a Bear Creek Arsenal 24" complete upper, the straight-fluted nitride barrel mlok version for $239. The price then dropped another $12. I didn't bother to ask for the difference. I also have a free 5.56 barrel on the way for being a veteran.
It looks great and function checks were perfect. I paired it with my Anderson lower built with a PSA MOE-EPT build kit and the pins fit very well - better than the .223 upper I had on it. I borrowed the scope off that rig - a CVlife 6-24 x 50. Pretty cheap but it has a parallax adjustment. I bought a box of Hornady Black ELD-Match at Academy. My magazine is an ASC 25 round.
I sighted it in at 25 yards. It took 5 shots due to a combination of operator error and scope adjustments not matching the stated number of clicks/moa. At 100 yards my first shot was just off the edge of the center bull and I walked out to the target just to make sure. I went back and took 4 more shots and for some reason the point of aim was a little low and right but those four shots were in a 0.53" group. I made an adjustment and went for the lower right dot with 4 shots in a 0.29" group! My last 3 shots at the lower left dot put the first hole in the dot but I walked the next 2 to the right for a 1.53" group. I didn't want to burn the last of my ammo so I left it at that. I'm pretty tickled to have gotten well below MOA on my first two real groups. I was shooting off a portable bench with sandbags filled with resin pellets.
