24" Bear Creek upper sub moa = I'm happy.

First post here. I bit on a Bear Creek Arsenal 24" complete upper, the straight-fluted nitride barrel mlok version for $239. The price then dropped another $12. I didn't bother to ask for the difference. I also have a free 5.56 barrel on the way for being a veteran.

It looks great and function checks were perfect. I paired it with my Anderson lower built with a PSA MOE-EPT build kit and the pins fit very well - better than the .223 upper I had on it. I borrowed the scope off that rig - a CVlife 6-24 x 50. Pretty cheap but it has a parallax adjustment. I bought a box of Hornady Black ELD-Match at Academy. My magazine is an ASC 25 round.

I sighted it in at 25 yards. It took 5 shots due to a combination of operator error and scope adjustments not matching the stated number of clicks/moa. At 100 yards my first shot was just off the edge of the center bull and I walked out to the target just to make sure. I went back and took 4 more shots and for some reason the point of aim was a little low and right but those four shots were in a 0.53" group. I made an adjustment and went for the lower right dot with 4 shots in a 0.29" group! My last 3 shots at the lower left dot put the first hole in the dot but I walked the next 2 to the right for a 1.53" group. I didn't want to burn the last of my ammo so I left it at that. I'm pretty tickled to have gotten well below MOA on my first two real groups. I was shooting off a portable bench with sandbags filled with resin pellets.

Congratulations on receiving a decent BCA barrel, and welcome to the Horde.

Well done blazer. Love it when a cheap setup shoots that good and functions flawless.

You hit the roll of the dice with that BCA. You should run right out and purchase a lottery ticket while your luck is running hot. LOL

Thanks for the kind responses. Just to confirm, yes the loads were factory Hornady Black 123 grain ELD-M. $22 at Academy. Yesterday I ordered another box of that, a couple of Federal Fusion, and some Wolf from Classic Firearms. They seemed to have a good price even with tax and shipping.

I honestly don't know if I could shoot better with a laser weapon. I think my new sand bags helped a lot. I have one of the Sportsman's Guide shooting rests but I have never gotten great results shooting from it. I struggle some with my bifocals. Maybe I need to try clear glasses and focus with the eyepiece.

Cool! I would call sub moa better than decent. Good work.

There are a lot of "lucky" BCA owners out in the world...........

That is fantastic news. Is BCA's reputation really all that bad usually? I know they're cheap, but I also know some brands keep a bad rep longer than they deserve. Could they be getting better?

BCA does seem to have a higher percentage of poorly rifled barrels but they will replace them if they don't shoot well.
I have two or three of them, if my AR-Stoner barrel is really a BCA.
I have gotten replacements on two of them which shoot well.
My 223 24" AR-Stoner barrel never shot well with 55gr FMJ. I still have it.

Does your CVlife scope seem stable? Does it track well?
I have bought a few Sonicking scopes based on internet reviews and they track like SWFA scopes.
I have not been disappointed for around $20.

Same results here. I bought a complete upper from Midway with a 20" AR Stoner barrel. At 200 yds, I was getting 5-6" groups. With my new 24" BCA barrel, I'm now shooting 1.5" at that distance.

My .224 Valkyrie barrel just arrived today. Hoping I can try it out this week yet.

Nice shooting Zad. My free Veteran's barrel is supposed to arrive tomorrow after about a week of "shipping label created." Can you put together an upper cheaper than a complete one from BCA or do you just want to select specific parts?

I'm waiting for my free barrel too. "Shipping label created" for the last 10 days.

In all honesty, it's probably cheaper getting a complete upper from BCA. I've always preferred building from scratch.
