A quick word on the LaRue MBT

Recently i was ordering one of LaRue's LT204 C.A.N. scope mounts and on a flier decided to order a couple of MBT triggers. I'd heard how good they were and decided to give it a try. My previous experience with a 2 stage trigger was the RRA National Match 2-Stage. One was pretty and the other was kind of mushy. To be honest, it kind of turned me off to 2-stage triggers.

My last trigger purchases had been a couple Elftmann SE triggers and i kind of fell in love with a good single stage.

So my order was placed Jan 23rd and they hit my door yesterday Feb 12th. I'd heard of people waiting months for theirs since the price drop to $87, so i was pleasantly surprised to get them this quickly. Last night i pulled the ALG ACT out of my pistol lower that does double duty for a 11.5" 5.56 and 12.7" 6.5G upper. WOW! what a difference that makes. The ACT isn't a bad trigger, but the MBT is just whole other kind of good, especially at its current price. A little light predictable takeup and a very crisp break. It's also heads and shoulders better than the "pretty good" RRA trigger in my 20" 5.56 rifle.

The break is just as clean on the MBT as on the Eltmann triggers, which i like. Looks like i'm probably in for a weekend of musical triggers as i start moving triggers around and i can finally purge the last of the milspec triggers from my lowers. I think my 9mm lowers are going to end up with the RRA triggers and the lowers i use with my 5.56, 6.5G and 450 Bushmaster uppers are getting the MBT's and the Elftmanns.

Now i just need to figure what i'm going to do with my paper weight Franklin Gen 2 Binary.

My Alg is sitting in the spare parts box. I didn't see it was that much of an improvement over the parts kit trigger. MilSpec. Got replaced with a Rise which will be replaced with another Larue.

I am quite happy with the 2 MBT I have in my Grendels, no creep, nice clean break, I'm using the lighter springs which aren't super light poundage, safe for a semi but break just right without much effort.

Yup, the MBT is a damn fine trigger! Only had 1 SSA-E and that's in the spares box now. In the process of standardizing on the MBT, with the exception of a couple AR-9s which will keep their PSA EPT/JPE S35T single stages.

Who's or what springs are you using on your LaRue?
            Thanks

Larue supplies two TRIGGER springs with their triggers. (The hammer spring is a standard weight spring.) Gives the user the option of light or less-light break. Works amazingly well. I measured mine a while back. The light spring produced too light of a break for my particular application, general purpose rifle. It would be great however if I was building a dedicated precision setup. The heavy spring gave my trigger a break somewhere north of 4#, which is much better for general duty use. Both springs produce the same crisp break however.

Yes 2 springs supplied. Im looking for a lighter spring for lighter 2nd stage. The first stage I like and the wall. Not that the set up is bad. Great improvement, By the trigger pull gauge it is close enough to advertised. Does feel lighter. For the price no complaints.

I have three MBTs in SBRs. I started with one in the Grendel but switched to AR Gold, which is my preference for precision ARs.

I always put CMC triggers in my rifles until I gave the MBT an actual try and not just dismiss it because it is a two stage trigger. I will never go back to any other trigger in my AR's.

Same here. I think that I have about a dozen MBTs now. They’ve become my “default” trigger on most builds. My “upgraded” trigger is the AR Gold, I like the original version a little better (it was much more complex and somewhat problematic in out of spec lowers), but that doesn’t take anything away from the current version (which is fantastic).

I can barely tell the difference between my $200 Geissele SSA and the MBT.

Good grief, haven't looked at the Geissele SSA in a while and they are now $240.

If the G SSA goes tits up im just replacing it with an MBT.

You may get it quicker than you think. I heard all of these stories about 60-90 day waits. I figured i wouldn't see the triggers until March some time, then BAM!...shipping notice 3 weeks later.
