I have the 7.62X39 and just received the 6.5 G list below last week. They are really nice looking. Bolt handle came loose on the 7.62X39 so I put a little blue lock-tite on...been perfect since!

I never liked the original M16 design charging handle, but I really the side charge. Big plus's (if that's a word) no she'll deflector to dent the case mouth and no forward assist.
IMO...there is zero negatives to a side charge upper.

Just did not realize it was that easy to remove the BCG. THANKS for the information of removal. I must have looked at something different? Forward assist does not bother me but if I have issues with loading I don't need to assist the issue. It's time to see the issue and not create another problem. SO yes just another part not needed with the assistant. Im not in battle.

Slightly off topic, but why the preference for a left side charging handle? Assuming you still have a right hand ejection port, why make another opening in the upper?
I would like to keep the side held next to me free knobs and moving parts too. My rear charging handle gets unlatched by my jacket every so often when I am just walking which is a big part of why I wish I had gone the side charging route the first time around.

I prefer the joebobsoutfitters nonrecriprcating left side side charging upper. And it's cam pin design, the cam pin it uses let's you use any bcg made by any company. Not so with the sidechargers that have the bcg tapped to accept a screw in handle.
Really like the cover they install over the T-handle area of the upper, it pivots and when you close the rifle up its locked closed by the lower and makes for a nice tight fit.
