New Side Charging 6.5 Grendel Option

Includes stripped upper, BCG, mag, and a standard charging handle. Not bad for under $300... https://www.hardenedarms.com/ecProdu...06.5%20Grendel

I have the 7.62X39 and just received the 6.5 G list below last week. They are really nice looking. Bolt handle came loose on the 7.62X39 so I put a little blue lock-tite on...been perfect since!

Nice option! I have no problem with the rear charger. Looks like cleaning would be more difficult?

BCA and Hardened Arms are not remotely the same company

Thread title: New Side Charging 6.5 Grendel Option

Those two companies offer side charge uppers...so there is two options....

I'm not sure what you are trying to say!?!?!?!?

Not really...one Allen head screw to remove...then the BCA slides right out the back. If you don't have the secondary charge handle, there is a plug that is only finger tight that has to come out...

I never liked the original M16 design charging handle, but I really the side charge. Big plus's (if that's a word) no she'll deflector to dent the case mouth and no forward assist.

IMO...there is zero negatives to a side charge upper.

Just did not realize it was that easy to remove the BCG. THANKS for the information of removal. I must have looked at something different? Forward assist does not bother me but if I have issues with loading I don't need to assist the issue. It's time to see the issue and not create another problem. SO yes just another part not needed with the assistant. Im not in battle.

I would much rather have the charging handle on the left side though. Just personal preference.

I had considered a Side Changing Upper when building my Grendel and have regretted not going that route. Glad to see we are getting more options for when I build my next one.

Slightly off topic, but why the preference for a left side charging handle? Assuming you still have a right hand ejection port, why make another opening in the upper?

I would like to keep the side held next to me free knobs and moving parts too. My rear charging handle gets unlatched by my jacket every so often when I am just walking which is a big part of why I wish I had gone the side charging route the first time around.

                            I like both.
left hand charging for pistols and carbines that I will run like an AR - lefty mag changes, etc.
right hand charging for rifles I will sling up or shoot from a bench.

Left side charging makes it so you don't have to break check weld to cycle the action. It also allows you to hold the rifle with your right hand and rack the bcg back and lock it back with just your left hand.

I prefer the joebobsoutfitters nonrecriprcating left side side charging upper. And it's cam pin design, the cam pin it uses let's you use any bcg made by any company. Not so with the sidechargers that have the bcg tapped to accept a screw in handle.

Really like the cover they install over the T-handle area of the upper, it pivots and when you close the rifle up its locked closed by the lower and makes for a nice tight fit.
