Switching to a muzzle breaks looks to have helped

My Grendel was shooting good handloads in the 1.5-2 MOA range. Which is kind of Meh. Taking off the A2 Flashhider, and putting on a Gamma .300 BO muzzle break; and replacing the crush-washer with shims, appears to have improved my accuracy, bringing it down to the 1-1.5 MOA range.

Also, the .300 BO Gamma muzzle break works great, and notably reduced felt-recoil. I suspect this is what contributed to the improved accuracy, as the gun just jumps less now.

FWIW, I went with the .300 BO muzzle break vs the 6.5 break, because it's about 1/2" shorter, and still fits the threads used on Grendels.

These VG6 gammas are solid, well-engineered, and IMO work very well for me also.

Just out of curiosity, what distance are your shooting and which ammo? I’m new to using a Grendel and I’m trying to grab as much info as I can.

I'm using the same brake on my 6.5 Grendel. A short 300 BO brake works great. And it's currently on sale.....

90 gr and 129 gr reloads. For whatever reason, anything in the 123 gr range it hates. I dont know why.

Mine doesn’t mind the 123 ELD-M ammo. How far are you shooting?

How loud was it, was there a noticeable increase?

There was a notable increase in noise. But since Grendel is lower Pressure than 5.56, I found it less increase then that. Yet with a more notable decrease in felt recoil. Grendel is jumpy, and this took it down to nearly 5.56 level recoil. I wasnt sure if it would, since the .300 BO version is less efficient than the longer tighter 6.5 version, but actually it worked pretty good.

Thanks. I go back and fourth on putting a brake on my 18" gun. It shoots fairly tight, so I hate to screw with it. But, it'd be nice to tame the jump some to help identify the splash.

I've seen some video where depending on the brand it either helped or hindered accuracy. The Gammas improved in all but one case and I was a little suspect of the test. All my AR's and my Compass wear Gamma VG65's and VG6 .223

I picked up an Epsilon 65 for $45 shipped.
I wanted the JP "tank" brake, but for less than half the price I figured I'd give this a go.
