    Question on bcg

So, I am trying to put a 6.5 Grendel ar and have a bcg designated for 6.8/224 Valkyrie.

Is this bcg suitable for use in an ar with the 6.5 cartridge?

To my eye, the 6.8/224 Valkyrie bcg is identical to another 6.5 G bcg.....

    Thanks,

    TF

the ar bolt carrier can be used in 6.5 Grendel and 6.8 spcii/Valkyrie as well as 5.56 and 300 blackout. the difference is there is a designated 6.5 Grendel bolt type ii that should only be
used for the 6.5 Grendel cartridge. just like your 6.8 bcg has a specific 6.8 spcii/Valkyrie bolt that can only be used in 6.8 spcii/Valkyrie ar's. Your best bet is to buy a second designated 6.5 Grendel bcg or purchase a designated 6.5 Grendel bolt type ii. however, you could get confused on what bolt your using or left in the carrier when switching rifles.

There are two different Grendel bolts, based on headspace. One has a .136 bolt face depth, while the other is .125. The most popular is .136 and is most likely what you'll need. Most barrel manufacturers list which bolt their barrels are head spaced for, just verify and you'll be good to go.

        Thanks guys...... you were correct.

Anyway, to my detriment, I have always been a “learn by doing” sort of guy..... so, in keeping with that....,just to see what would happen.... (that same thinking also causes me to repeatedly get my Jeep stuck).......I put in the 6.8/Val 224 bcg and it would not work at all. I actually thought it would chamber a round and had thought to myself.... well it it chambers, maybe I’ll fire it....

Anyway, it seemed to bugger up some edges on the bolt but not too badly.....now on my way in search of the correct bolt.
