complete upper for a new to Grendel guy? Precision Firearms? Atheris? Sanders? Odin?

    Hello Grendel folks!
I recently became disabled and had to retire due to some serious spinal issues surgeries ect, so a build would not be practical.
I would like to ask you all for your advice on a quality upper that would shoot under moa at 100 and reach out 6-800 yds. I'd mostly be shooting from a bench so upper weight is not that important.
Just getting started so I have only spoken with Mark (I think) at Precision Firearms so far. Seemed like a good guy, answered my questions. I saw a few 264LBC barreled uppers in their PF outlet section (budget is tight these days) but he said they were sold already. He also said he would send me pics and prices on some other outlet uppers they had but I haven't heard back from him. Oh well, everyone gets busy I guess.
Any advice and experiences you could share with me would greatly appreciated!
    Thank You, Rick.

Go with Mark at precision firearms. His products are well worth the price and wait and he will build it just how you want it.

It's a 100% probability it's going to work better and shoot better then all your other listed choices.

I would get a quality barrel from Precision Firearms and build the upper myself. But since you said a build not practical for you.I agree with the A5blaster said. Get the upper from Precision Firearms. You can also try Craddock Firearms. I’ve been just as pleased with Craddock.

If you advise Mark at Precision Firearms your a new member of the 6.5 Grendel forum he offers a discount. Explain your situation to Mark and I feel sure he will try to deliver a product you can use.

I'm a big fan of Grendel Hunter. They make a good looking product and its performance holds up against the best. Heres an article with a few complete uppers tested for performance.

Thinking of a 6.5 Grendel AR-15? We hands-on shoot 5 of the most popular uppers available so you'll know which to get for your purpose and budget.

Hate to break it to you. But nothing on that list is even close to the best.

In fact most of them don't even have a grendel barrel in them and all of them are barreled with a rack grade barrel.

Off the top of my head, the 3 main companies I would recommend for a complete upper are:

              Alexander Arms
LaRue (Ultimate Upper kit with factory assembled option)
              Precision Firearms
NRA Basic, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, RSO

CCW, CQM, DM, Long Range Rifle Instructor

This is the best advice, I was actually thinking this exact thing when I clicked on the link. Guess I've learned from a good source...

If you are on a tight budget this has worked for me. Shoots 1 MOA for me.

I like Aero Precision AR uppers and lowers. I own several of the M4 and one of the M5 Receivers. Excellent machine work and also screw assembly lower instead of roll pin which makes for easier assembly.
I'm thinking you may have access to a local builder who can build you whatever you desire.

No argument here on these choices.

For anyone wanting accuracy & repetitive grouping, pay the extra $ for the best. A rifle without accuracy is not worth the price of a door stop.

Precision Firearms seems to be getting the most votes around here for TOP quality and accuracy in a complete upper. (no doorstops lol)
Whew... The prices there at PF are pretty steep though. Not sure I can swing it. That's why I was looking in their "PF outlet" section. But I do believe you usually get what you pay for... especially true with firearms.

Thanks VASCAR2!! for the tip on the new member discount from PF.
I did a search here and saw he does indeed offer a one-time discount for new members. That could make the difference.

I'd really like to have an upper from PF and not "settle" for something of a bit lesser quality.
I'll take you guys' advice and try to phone Mark at PF, hopefully we can work something out.

I see PF gives you some barrel maker choices, Lilja, Bartlien, or Kreiger. All quality I'm sure. Thinking 24" Any opinions or experiences with these barrel options?
Also, do I NEED an adjustable gas block (not shooting suppressed) with a 24" barrel PF, or just nice to have?

One more for PF. I have a Neptune upper with a 24" Lilja that is 1/2 minute if I do my handloads well. No adjustable GB on it at all, not needed. Anything that is suppressed gets an adjustable GB.

You don't need adjustable gas on RLGS 24" unsuppressed with the correct port size.

You can get a Criterion barrel and bring the price down a bit.
