    alexander arms 6.5

i have acquired a alexander arms 6.5 Grendel, it is all alexander arms as to upper and lower, even the carry bag is alexander arms. i don't up until now shoot ar's. been pretty much a bolt gun guy my whole life. is there any collector value as this rifle was before alexander arms was sold? what is it worth (it is a overwatch 24" barreled gun) if there is no collectors value would shortening the barrel to 18-20" hurt or help the value?

it has the carbon fiber handguard and it has 6.5 grendel in the top of the barrel just in front of the gas block.
even on macro was hard to get a good picture.

trigger, anyone recognize it? looks like a Timney to me.

well alexander arms confirmed the rifle was from bill alexander time owning the company. they also agreed it would be cheaper to have them put a new 20 barrel on rather than cut the existing one. monster barrel is sold.

I own an Alexander Arms 24" Overwatch and it is a tack driver!!!! I can understand your wanting a shorter and lighter version. I solved the issue by adding an Alexander Arms 20" Light Hunter and it shoots almost as well as its big brother. Both of mine were uppers only and live on lowers that I assembled myself and I am impressed with the quality of both uppers. I agree that there will probably never be enhanced value on the collectors market.

thinking of a faxon 6mm arc barrel in 20" 1-8 twist and just swap out the barrel and keep the 6.5. i have several thousand 6mm bullets i could shoot.

amen brother, i have the same syndrome, my problem is i am a bolt man, though i have owned ar's that would give a bolt gun a run for it's money.

well shut my mouth. got my 90 gr nosler bullet and made it to the range. fire forming loads (7.62x39 winchester brass)shot 1-1.25" groups at 100 yards. top load of 10x was just as nosler said "most accurate ar just over .50" and 2963 fps. imr8208 wasn't far behind with .75" at 3004fps in formed cases. not bad for an ar and a real hammer.

if you watch YouTube videos the guys are using ar's with suppressors which just makes the longer and quieter. doesn't seem to make them less maneuverable.
