Ladies I need advice on 6.5 Grendel build for a female friend

OK I got a smokin deal from Palmetto Armory. Well I have a new female friend who will most likely become more than that. She wants to shoot hogs. So I (she) is going to build her very own Grendel. Now, here is my question what barrel length for her to handle easily and yet keep as much performance in it as I can. She's going to have to be able to move it around in a 2 person blind. I do not want to build another SBR though. Thanks in advance appreciated

14.5 pin and weld it your standard every day 16 inch will be perfectly fine.

What matters most is everything else that gets strapped, screwed, bolted and wrenched on.

Having built 9 ar grendels for woman/girls ranging from 4'3" and 65lbs soaking wet to my best friends wife who is literally a Amazonian monstrosity.

Keeping the total weight with optics and loaded mag around 7.5lbs but more weighted towards the butt stock works perfectly.

Magpul fixed carbine stocks, seemed to fit every woman/girl I have built for to a T.

    I'm a 6 foot, 300lb 🦍, but hope my advice helps.

So your saying weld a flash suppressor to it . Most likely she will have a suppressor on it. I will have to measure the adaptor it may 1.5 in.

If your going to put a can on it, then yes, do a pin and weld 14.5 barrel setup. But make sure you use the correct muzzle device that the suppressor attachs too.

If the suppressor that will be used doesn't have the correct length muzzle device to pin and weld and make it legal length. Then just get a 16 inch barrel instead.

More importantly, ensure you get a stock that fits. Most women are shorter than men so a shorter stock is more a rule than exception. With a stock that is short enough, barrel length becomes less important when handling the rifle or carbine. 16 or 18 inch barrel ought to do fine.

Don't waste money on a cf wrapped barrel either. It's not worth the money for the "weight saving" if there are any to be had. Looks cool, but so does a good paint job.

I just went with a Wilson Combat on this one. If she stays with it an shows an interest I will probably put a Bartlein or similar on it. I don't know she wants to kill a Cape Buffalo...LOL and she keeps bringing it up so she may be serious. Ask me last night if she could kill one with smaller rifle (than a big bore). Told her no not if she wanted to live....ROFL

Under 100 yards with a perfect shot placement and some 160 grain round nose bullets. It could be done.

They used 6.5 manchlicaer(sp) to kill elephants at the begining of the last century.

I'm game to try it with a ar grendel and a fully loaded 26 round mag of 160 Hornady round nose hand loads.

A5 you are very brave man...or a foolish one...LOL How about Nosler 140 partition would need penetration through the hide and fat. What do you think?

Yep. Though most are adjustable. Honestly, a 12" with an armbrace (that you never shoulder fire, of course, if anyone asks) is pretty tough to beat for what you seek, and that shorter length of pull likely would fit her just fine (hypothetically speaking).

                      Have her run 90 TNT's.

Neither brave nor foolish. Just smart enough to know that every animal on the planet needs way less bullet weight and fps at impact to kill it, then what people believe and what magazine and YouTube experts tell you.

They use to kill elephants and cape buffalo with 6.5 manchlicaer(sp) rifles shooting a 160 grain round nose between 2200 and 2400 fps.

Seen bull moose and elk killed with a grendel shooting 123 grain bullets. Seen cap buffalo and Asian buffalo killed with arrows only going 220 fps.

I would have zero issue hunting cape buffalo with a ar grendel slinging 160 grain round nose bullets from a 24 to 26 round mag.

The 140 partition might work, but I would still go with the 160 class round nose bullets.

Ill try to give you my opinion from a woman's perspective here. As others said don't do a SBR go with a brace if you go under a 16' Length.
I use the newest SB braces. think its the sb 5. I backpack hunt, Stand Hunt and stalk also. I have few lady friends that tag along at times. I have 4 Grendel's for myself (2 12" A 16" AND 18" ) I've" helped" build numerous ones for couple of my lady friends. I can tell you that the 16" or 12" seems to be the best liked compromise when going hiking hunting. In a box stand the 12" barrel is hard to beat as long as shots are at max of 200 yards or closer. 12" especially if putting a can on it works well in tight or brushy places. Using a light weight Faxon barrel and light weight strong handguard along with a Reasonable power Leopold scope ( tend to be lighter than most) These things have been my and other ladies choice. Think dependable and light weight. Nothing fancy or complicated just dependable easy to operate. Barrel length depends on what range she would realistically be shooting. I hand load 129 grain ABLR's for deer size game in all three Grendel's and they perform perfectly with a good placed shot every time. So from my personal experience and other ladies I've been hunting with the 12" to 16" barrel lengths seem to be best for maneuverability in box stands and hiking hunts. The 12" barrel Grendel is everyone's favorite length because its lighter, easy to maneuver and more compact. That said the 16" is only slightly less compact and has bit more ballistic range and energy and couple of my lady friends prefer it over the 12" barrel.
Here is my personal set ups.
12" Faxon barrel, Midwest industries light weight hand guard linier comp on muzzle and a Leopold 2x7 Scope.
16 " Faxon barrel , Midwest industries light weight hand guard thread protector on muzzle and a Leopold 4x12 Scope.
18" Faxon Barrel , AREO light weight hand guard thread protector on muzzle and a 4x16 AO Scope.
( This 18" rifle is bit heavier do to a more bench type stock and heavier scope) I use it for when i don't have to walk and carry far and expect shots out past 200-300 yards.
I and others have killed plenty yotes and deer with all 3 Grendel's.
My best friend and frequent hunting partner prefers the 16" barrel with a Leopold 3x9. says it knocks the snot out of them at any range and situation as well as the bit longer barrel is harder to accidently point somewhere you don't want.
If I wasn't going to carry far and need to shoot past 200- 300 yards like open fields i would go 18"
                          Hunting under 200 yards 12"
kinda do all both close and out, good compromise shots to like 300 yards or in 16"

HINT, ladies are visual. Let her pick out some Magpul rubber rail covers and the stock and grip colors. FDE, Green, gray or black. can paint them with a different color pretty well if you get the FDE. No i don't mean pink either but guess you could. lol
I did one for a friend that was Gray and pink staggered Magpul rail covers. liked to kill me to do it but its what she wanted.
