      "Currently, 5.56, 300 BLK, and 7.62x39 are available and shipping. The next caliber will be 6.5 Grendel. . . ." --- (http://www.faxonfirearms.com/t/faqs) (Approx. halfway down the Page);

      (http://www.guns.com/2015/02/24/faxon...extrous-araks/) --- Compare the Faxon Firearms ARAK-21 5.56mm Bolt with their 7.62x39mm Bolt (left), which will be used with the upcoming 6.5mm Grendel chambering ---

      To Faxon Firearms: It's been more than two years (03-01-2015), since I submitted the above Post. I need an ARAK-21 pistol, with the 12.5" barrel, chambered for the 6.5mm Grendel cartridge, using the beefy 7.62x39mm Bolt ---

      Thank you.

              Would the beefier bolt for the 6.5 allow the chamber pressure to be upped into the 60k range? Really 60k is still pretty mild by modern cartridge standards. the wsm and wssm are 64k, 308 and its children 62k and the 100+ 06 58k. Could allow the 6.5 to push a 123 sst to 2700 to 2800 out of a 20" barrel.

                There's nothing mild about 60ksi, especially for brass and throat life.

                I keep looking for cartridges and loads that work well with lower and lower pressures.

                Grendel brass was engineered with a yield at 60ksi, since working pressure is down at 50ksi and lower, with a 10k buffer + FOS (factor of safety) on top of that.

                Recoil is also lower with lower pressure cartridges firing moderate or light projectiles.

                You could push a load harder though if the diameters were also engineered to handle those pressures. The AR15 really needs more girth in the extension and barrel tennon to push those kinds of pressures with fatter cases.

                  also, as you raise the ksi requirement of materials, the cost goes up, and its not a linear curve

                    I just came across a worthwhile read that covers Faxon Firearms from February, 2015, to date: (http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread....24#post2082124). Lots of detail on the AR-15, on the ARAK-21. I recommend it.

                    And, there's a good Youtube video on Barrel Manufacturing, Nitride vs Chrome lining and more! (http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread....23#post2463523).
