Ruger American Predator 6.5 Grrrrr, make sure your scope rail is tight.

    Folks,

Save time and ammo. Make sure that the scope rail is tight on your RAP. I had a long range session last weekend, had a bit of a wandering zero. I cleaned the rifle the other night, and my scope rail had come loose. Just a friendly warning. A2

I strip the top of the action and the base.

Bed with Red Loc tite and recommended torque spec for the fasteners, then leave it to cure overnight or 24hrs at least.

They don't come off easily after that. I also gasket the base of the mount with Red Loc-tite.

I only use rings with 4 fasteners per (2 per side), US-made. There are so many cheap Chinese rings out there that are maybe airsoft-worthy at best.

          This ^^^^^^

If anything bed the rail and locktite the fasteners. Blue if you are worried about getting them back out at some point.

I bedded all 4 of the Howa actions I've done with epoxy. Release agent on the action, let it sit for 36 hours with only the front screws finger tight. Then I put a thin coat (couple drops each side) of blue locktite on the screws and bedding when I mounted for the final time.

Ask the video tutorial professor (You Tube) to show you how to do it.

This is simply good advice for any and all such mountings.

I cannot tell you how many times I have had rifles returned for accuracy problems and guys swear that they checked the base rings blah blah blah..

I will tear it all down, degrease and wire brush holes and screws. Completely dry and grease free RED lock tite and torque screws in bases. Then allow at least 24 before I even mount and bore site scope. Most often this cures problem.
Even personally I have seen four times a ring has failed on me after a period of time with no problems. So stripping down to check if problems are found might also be a good idea. Also remember "NEW" doesn't always mean right and removed from suspicion. I had a bad base once... Brand new cut out of square...

            Good luck!
