I got to give my little CZ Grendel out last week. Conditions were generally good, but wind a bit gusty, and I shot without regard to wind. I started with some Wolf then went to Hornandy gold and was getting groups just under 1 MOA, shooting off some sandbags. I think if I had had my tripod front rest and the rear bags the groups would have shrunk a bit. I'm still at probably 140-160 rounds trough it, so it's still breaking in. The action is getting smoother also. I did try some rounds I had prepared a couple of years to fire form in my AR Grendel. With the reduced load, point of impact was about 3 1/2 lower than factory loads, but still gave respectable groups. The more I shoot this little rifle the more I like it.

I also had a little Ruger 77/22 that I had just rebarreled with a Shilen sporter barrel. I probably ran a couple of hundred rounds through it and it just kept getting better and better, shooting the same way was getting 50 yard groups around 3/8 to 1/2 inch, some were little 3 shot cloverleafs with all shots well overlapping, The trigger on it is very good, but a little stiff so I ordered a Timney sear and a Rifle Basics trigger to install so I can have a bit more adjustment.

I have recently seen listed on GB two (2) CZ 527 VARMINT heavy barrel 26" rifles. One had the SKU as 03036. Nothing on the website, and I know the MTR Varmints are still limited to Europe. WTH!?!?

The picture on that website looks like a standard 527 American!

Thats the confusing part. Both of the listed rifles on GB right now say 527 Varmint 26" heavy barrel, in 6.5 Grendel. The prices would be in line with that 527 Varmint. The Photo's do show the non-tapered heavy barrel on the 527 varmint like the Hornet, .204 Ruger, and .223 version................

Before I spend $$$ on a 527 American with the 24" barrel, I'd like to know if these 6.5 Grendel Varmint models actually exist!

The way my 527 is shooting, I don't think I would spring for a varmint model. I know a heavier barrel would not heat up as quickly and with a more powerful scope I would shoot a little better, but just don't want the extra weight. I have an old Rem 700 varmint special in .223, with a 6.5x20 scope , a 8 oz Timney trigger and will be the first to admit it is easier to hold steady and shoots smaller groups than the CZ, but it's just not the fun

Sounds like we need some clarification from CZ USA.

              I REALLY want a 527FS in 6.5 Grendel.

I love my CZ's! I've got eight of the 527's, one of which is a 6.5 Grendel American. It shot sub MOA in the factory stock, I recently pillar bedded it into a Boyd's Heritage with a LH cheek piece. I've yet to do any serious shooting with it, only having rough zeroed it after bedding with a new scope in a 30mph wind. This weekend I hope to give it a serious workout with some factory Federal 130gr OTM and some handloads.

A while back when I saw the 527 MTR in Grendel, I inquired with my dealer on availability (Canada) and was told April. Well this became true, the distributor has them and they are inbound to my dealer this week. I hope to have a sample in my hands next week. I've got a DIP rail coming and a 6-24 FFP MIL/MIL Bushnell Elite to go on it. With what I learn this weekend working with my 527 American, I'll apply to the MTR and get some good data with the Labradar and Two Box Chrono's.

Me too, love long heavy barrels. I e-mailed CZ-USA tonight about the availability to the 527 in6.5 Grendel and the varmint version. No answer as yet.

I noticed that Sportsman's Warehouse lists a 527 "American Rustic" in 6.5G with 24" barrel. Unfortunately OOS. https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/...2843/cat100003

Edit: Oops, a little more research showed it was discontinued last year. Oh well.

After learning a little more, isn't it funny that the 527 uses a 22" barrel in all calibers except our 6.5G with the 24."
Seems odd to me. I'd like the longer barrel in .204R or .223.

Sometime last year I had put in a notice for several dealers to notify when back in stock. I woke up this morning to an email from grabagun saying the 527 American walnut/blue 6.5 Grendel was in stock.

my American seems more like a blend from a varmint and american, the cz 527 american in .204 i had before had a lighter shorter barrel and the handling noticeably lighter, this 6.5 grendel the barrel seems another contour heavier and also the added length of course, i don't think it's true 24" barrel, my tape says 23 1/2" but i imagine the 26" are 25 and change also from recollection...

anyway, the handling of this grendel is definitely more stable and standard hunting rifle like than what i remember of the .204 i had, i quite like it and bet it will prove ideal in the field on predators and some big game. i have moved completely away from varmint contour rifles for hunting, they are too slow and heavy to maneuver on sticks or pods for predator calling, if hunting is your end goal stick with the american, it's a bit more solid than you expect from previous americans imo

Guys, I just got off the phone with Wtsguns and the rifle is genuine. It comes from a wholesaler in Minnesota, UPC 806703030364? By the way, I just bought it. Now to find a FFL that will accept delivery and not hold me up for using his license!

BTW, CZ-USA says that they have no plans to offer the 527 American in 6.5 Grendel and the varmint configuration, that may change in the future.

The CZ527 would be of intrest to be clear. Though the low recoil options would get the nod. 17 Hornet, 204 Ruger, 221 fireball & .223 All could be great choices.

When I was considering puting together my first 6.5 Grendel before available as a factory options being offered. I was speaking to a fella who had already done so. I was simply surprised this fella did not care for his custom Grendel due to the recoil compared to his other 527's. When he explained how he had become accustomed to shooting free recoil, adjusting to the 6.5 Grendel was truly a very different animal.

Then and only then I was able to relate to where he was coming from.
I've hunted with my 527 in 7.62x39 for several years, the Hornady 123SST performs well on our Whitetail deer, my 6.5 Grendel American doesn't recoil a single iota more than it and is a bit more accurate after having it bedded. Factory inletting was a bit generous and a good bedding made a world of difference.
