Which state are we talking about? If it's not in the cards for a while, forget about limiting yourself to a specific brake/suppressor. They will both evolve over time. Get a brake you can use and that works for your current purposes, then cross the Suppressor/brake bridge when you're allowed to. Not to mention that some suppressors are direct thread.... and you can mount/time your MB with a locknut so getting it off easily is not an issue.
Hopefully you have the 20" heavy barrel, though...
I have a VG6 6.5 gamma and it works extremely well."Down the floor, out the door, Go Brandon Go!!!!!"

Jeez, in Illinois, 'ell might freeze over before you're allowed to own a suppressor.... Seriously, Thunder Beast suppressors have a well-deserved reputation for accuracy, and their compact brake/mounts (CB for short) are fairly effective brakes. I put a CB mount on the 6RAT bbl I did for the first Mini that I re-barreled, but replaced it with a flash suppressor/mount after giving it a bit of thought. Brakes are loud, and I knew there was a good chance I wouldn't always have the TBAC Ultra 7 I use on my smaller caliber rifles along. Rather than further trash what hearing I have left, I'll put up with the minor recoil of the 6RAT. However, when I did a 20 Tactical bbl for the 2nd Mini re-barrel job, the blank was a bit slimmer than the blank I'd used on the RAT, and since I had a TBAC CB mount with 1/2-28 threads, it went on that bbl.

Again, what barrel profile is the Howa? Is it already threaded? If it is a lightweight or sporter profile, you may have to use another thread pattern.Originally posted by sniper83 View Postwell the problem with my state is its Illinois, so what would be a good muzzle brake for the howaEngineer, FFL and Pastor

In that case, any "standard" .30 caliber muzzle brake will work (as a brake only, not a suppressor host). There are also some that are specific to the 6.5mm. Different people have their favorite models but your not going to put a bunch of stress on one from a bolt gun. I have some friends that build full auto weapons and they have experienced failures from the eBay (Chinese) products. Now they build their own brakes from U.S. sourced steel, but I doubt that you would ever have that happen.
