    Howa Mini Wood Stocked Lightweight.

I met my 5 pound goal with the bare rifle, but I'm 0.56 of an ounce over with the scope bases installed and the 4 round mag inserted.

I still need to epoxy bed the action and install sling studs, but I think I can have it ready to hunt under 6 pounds if I install a light scope and rings.

I sure like how wood feels compared to the plastic stock. The wood is plywood composed of alternating layers of poplar and rock hard maple. Finish is an oak stain followed by several coats of Tru-Oil.

I like the looks of that one, you have kept it trim and a big fan of wood for rifle stocks. I will stick with my CZ at 7.2lbs ready to hunt, rifle/scope/mounts/sling/loaded mag

Very nice. I like how you hollowed out the stock.
Why the two piece scope bases instead of a rail?

            Thanks, guys.

bj139 - The two piece scope bases are because they are cheap and work fine.

I used my mini mill and took the measurements from a factory stock. It was a little tedious, but I took it slow and quit when I got tired.

dude i know this is an older post but that grendel looks great.

Are you going to try checkering yourself? I have done alot of checkering its more tedious then anything else. Just wondering

Thanks. I like how it feels so I'm not going to attempt checkering it. Also, the layers are rock hard maple and soft poplar so I think it would be very difficult to keep a straight line and even depth.
