The Howa Mini is very popular down here in NZ. Great value for the quality compared to similar options at the price. The mag issues are always the point of discussion on the local forum!
I am still testing the final design, I haven't sold any yet.

Once I am satisfied with the reliability of the design, the capacity and availability will be updated on the website.
I do as much testing as I can to try and anticipate any weaknesses or improvements.

I am anxious to get them to market as well, I have a waiting list to clear...

And you need to get on to the detachable box magazine version. No pressure though.

        installation tips

Now that my new parts are getting out into peoples hands I have created a page that will hopefully help people install their new internal box magazine. If you can't get it to work please don't hesitate to contact me here or through the contact page on my website.

If anyone has any tips that they think I should add to the linked page, please let me know.

Mine took about 30 seconds to install. I turned the rifle upside down on a pad, removed the the two screws, removed the factory bottom "metal", dropped your excellent replacement part in, and tightened the screws.

The only issue I had was that a couple of times when loading the magazine, #2 & #4 rounds would get stuck on the left side of the action on the outside of the feed lips, rather than load in the mag. Simply releasing the pressure by opening then closing the latch released the cartridge. I quickly figured out that if I canted the rifle slightly to the right when pressing the cartridges in, this would not happen. Feeding (and loading) is much better than the factory magazine, but the spring seemed a bit stiff. Also, the feed lips were leaving light scratches on the brass. I left the rifle in the safe, with a full magazine for a couple of days, and the spring loosened up a little, resolving the issue. Overall, I'm very pleased with your aftermarket magazine.

Is the flush mount 4 + 1 in the chamber or will it not work that way? They look great btw.

It can work that way, there is room in the box to hold 4 under the closed bolt.

i get 4 in the magazine on mine. so if you do 1 in the chamber you get 5 ready to go of course. really please with the fit/finish/functionality of the JO flush bottom metal. light years ahead of the factory offering. i cracked the factory plastic bottom metal just by tightening the action screws. i though to myself at that moment, "you gotta be kidding...." and seemingly every time i grabbed the factory setup rifle to carry it one handed, the magazine fell out.... the JO flush bottom metal solves those problems for me. looks elegant. definitely carries one handed much nicer. when i got the product in the mail i trial fit it to the action and said to myself, hmm.. these tabs must go inside the frame rails... now that there's an installation page, i was right. but it was pretty obvious also.

i have a EGW 20moa rail on mine, so finger clearance is nil between the bottom of the rail and the opening of the action. so i flip the rifle over, pop the latch, and load it that way if i need to fill up the magazine. and that's fine with me. now i'm waiting to get to the range to test some loads.......

Troutguide, Yes, this kit is 4+1.

I'm pleased with mine. The factory
mag set-up makes the entire rifle feel like cheap garbage. This upgrade is a definite upgrade. Worth the price.

I am already working on making it easier to load, some of the springs in the lot I purchased for the magazine are real thumb busters when trying to top load.

I hope to possibly make some minor magazine box changes to make top loading easier, if everything works as planned it will be a fully backwards compatible upgrade.

Then on to finishing production of the 223 version and a single shot only edition for the few who have asked.

Would someone be kind enough to post a couple of pictures, specifically the top of the floor plate, and looking up into the magwell from the bottom with floorplate
                          released. Thanks

Unfortunately I have no date on being in stock again, I have most of the parts I need for another run but my magazine spring supplier is currently not shipping anything! They are shut down due to covid-19 so I am on the hunt for another vendor.
