    New CZ 527 bolt handles!!!

Just saw these came out recently. Looks like a great way to improve handling and scope clearance on these great little carbines for a price damn close to a factory second gen bolt handle. Youtube review also looks promising.

Nice! Is that a complete bolt lever, or does the knob thread off and you just replace the knob? I'm asking because I just picked up a CZ 527 Varmint MTR and realize that the knob just unthreads (like it did on my 457 MTR) so I can just simply replace the knob (picked up an Area 419 knob, like I have on my 457). But I think the 'non-MTR' rifles have a different bolt? I confirmed mine by looking in the owners manual and, sure enough, the exploded view of the gun diagram shows the knob coming off (requires a leather belt tightly wrapped around and vice grips / channel locks squeezing the leather belt to unscrew).

This is amazing; I swear I watched this video months ago. The upload date is the 22nd of this month. Weird!

My understanding is that it's a complete handle. Didn't know MTR's came threaded.

News to me as well that the MTR Bolt Knob is threaded on. All previous versions of the CZ 527 have a solid bolt handle/knob... this is a huge improvement right up there with switching the factory barrel threading for suppressor to American Standard thread pitches (instead on metric) for rifles sold in the US. Timing can't be better, I just had bolt handle milled down/removed to form threads for installing a Badger Ordnance Mini-Tactical Knob. I left a second bolt handle from another CZ 527 Varmint (older rifle) for him to thread whenever he has some down time. Looks like I might just cancel that work order if CZ is now offering a factory option.

I just the CZ USA sight to confirm if they are now offering a threaded replacement bolt handle.... site is down for maintenance. I will check back later and update with what I find.

Update - Factory Threaded Bolt Knobs by CZ

I spoke with representative from CZ USA. He stated that the threaded bolt handle does exist from factory and is currently included with the MTR model, but the American models will continue to use the existing solid handle/bolt knob. Apparently, there is some lost in translation between US operations and the Czech factory. The replacement threaded bolt handles might be offered for sale on their Webstore. If you have ever purchased a replacement part from CZ USA then you'll know that it is common for parts to come in and out of inventory/availability. Sometimes you have to keep checking in to see if more have arrived, and also set a notify. I have no idea if this new part is currently listed and available on their Webstore, which is offline for another week as they are rolling out a new ERP system. They are doing testing to make sure the systems are all synched and working properly.

Yes, I can definitely confirm that the MTR is definitely threaded on. Look at the exploded diagram in the manual. In addition, I've unscrewed mine and installed an Area 419 oversized knob-so I know I'm correct.

My CZ 457 Varmint MTR (.22 LR) also has the threaded bolt handle as well. I figured they would be threaded with the same thread, so I bought the same one I put on my 457 for my 527 MTR and it screwed on perfectly-just as I expected. If I can figure out how to post photos, I'll post some for you to see...

                    Let's see if this works:

Here's a photo of my 457 MTR with the Area 419 bolt knob installed:

Here's a view showing the knob (again on the 457)-which is the same knob I have on the 527 MTR:

                    Top View

Here's a view of the 527 MTR (6.5 Grendel) with the knob on that gun (gotta look closely to see the knob):

Sorry it took me a bit to finally figure out my issue with posting photos. This is what my CZ 527 looks like with the Badger Ordnance Mini-Tactical knob. I like having the extra scope clearance. It looks large until you see comparison to tip of my finger.

Late to the thread but I can also confirm that the american varmint models with the 25.5 barrel, also has the threaded on bolt knob.

The American varmint model is the mtr but in the american stock.

Ditto to being late, formulating my thoughts. My 527 Varmint is a "pre-introdution" version and my bolt handle is not threaded. That said I ordered a Glades slightly bent handle and , yes the knob is overly long to my thinking. However; the binding when you close the bolt is all but eliminated? My intentions is to make a new knob about 1/2 the length of the Glades, because the extended handle gives a lot more scope clearance and I do not scrape my thumb knuckle now!

Swopping out the two handles is a breeze. Took longer to walk from the bedroom to the kitchen table than to make the swop!

I would be willing to trade you my bolt handle for your bolt handle. I want the longer knob of the aftermarket handle.

Dont want to buy the whole handle so that's why I haven't ordered one from glades and I cant find anyone who cuts aftermarket knobs for the M6x1 threads the cz bolt handle uses and it's too close to deer season for me to want to waist daylight in my shop turning one.
