    Convert AR Barrel

Is it possible to convert an AR barrel to be a bolt action? Has anyone done this before and is there a standard to fill the gas port?

The Uintah Precision UPR15 is a true bolt action upper for your mil-spec AR15 lower. The UPR15 brings the accuracy of a bolt action rifle to the most popular platform in the United States. Squeeze the most accuracy out of your AR, with a Uintah Precision UPR15 and our MOA guarantee. We guarantee that our UPR’s will shoot Sub MOA with factory match ammo. To ensure you get the most out of your rifle, a UP "Vitrum" trigger is included with every upper. The Vitrum is also compatible with semi auto ARs as well. ***For 22 ARC, 6 ARC, 338 ARC and 6.5 Grendel, we recommend using Amend 2 6.5 Grendel mags**   Make it a Complete Package

to be clear I want to get a machinist to convert the barrel only and put it on a rem 700 action with the appropriate bolt face.

It would be cheaper and easier just to have a barrel made and installed then trying to convert a ar barrel over too a bolt action fit.

            Impossible.

The OD of an AR15's barrel threads is 0.830" (with the barrel extension removed). The ID of a Rem700 action at the threads is 1.063"

An AR barrel is too narrow to touch the insides of a 700 action.

Even if you chopped off the barrel's threads and started again there would not be enough meat on the barrel to work. Plus the cost of all this would be more than just buying a new barrel blank.

Necessity is the mother of invention. No doubt an answer to one of the many draconian regulations in "Kali".
