from early research I had 19" in my memory banks

with factory barrels I've had between 23.5" and 16.1" it's been a 22.4 fps per inch spread and I'm currently getting 2386 fps from hornady black from a 16.1" ruger and with same ammo I got 2503 fps from a 20" Howa(took a bit to break in tight bores on howa...it started at 2475 fps fyi) and 2552 fps from a 23.5" (cz 527 American)

Personally, I've settled on a 14.5" pin and weld as my ideal general length. It's very short and very light, but not so short as the 12" and retains some nice velocity. With a 14.5", firing the common 123gr Hornady SST general purpose hunting ammo, you get over 1000 ft-lb impact energy at over 200 yards. with Supersonic flight still at 700 yards. That's pretty good for a very light handy barrel. 16" will go even longer, and is more common.

That's a very surprising result if you aren't seeing much difference adding 2.5" of length to a 12" BBL.
