    Bolt Knob for Howa Mini

I think I want to upgrade the factory bolt knob on a how’s Mini. My LGS doesn’t do have much work with Metric rifles😀. I brought him a CZ 527 once…

I doubt he has a jig for doing bolt knobs on mini actions. Anyone have a recommendation?

With the smaller size of bolt handle, how do they prefer to machine the handle and to accept the new knob? Do they cut off the existing knob and drill/ tap handle to insert a threaded stud, or do the turn down bolt knob and make it into the threaded shaft?

Doesn't it screw off? Seems like I remember it was screwed on to the bolt shaft.

Might be my cz527 I'm thinking of but I thought the howas bolt was screwed on as well

I don't think they screw off, the ruger american's do.
The howa I think is a single piece bolt knob, there is however a clam-shell type of extension you put on over the original dinky knob. I did this for mine. It's aluminum with 2 or 3 screws and an included little rubber o-ring to make it tight if you need to do that.
      this is one:
Howa Tactical clamp on bolt knob. Upgrade your knob without permanently changing your OEM handle. HTBK

There's one at MGW also... I think on one of my howas I used a little black epoxy to act as filler but the oring(s) or some small ones from hdwe store also work fine. It doesn't budge.
About 10-40 bucks depensing on which one you choose.

The clamshell screw on unit will do in a pinch, but I want a more permanent solution. I am a fan of the Badger Ordnance Mini Tactical Knob. It is just the right size for a mini action and can be used with just your index finger. Also, it give just enough clearance around the scope. I installed one of these on the CZ527 and it is right-size and not obnoxious.

Just need a gunsmith who works on Howa Mini's.
