    Ruger American

When they first came out I bought a Ruger American in 7.62x39. Although it shot very well I was not happy with the cartridge. When Sierra published their 6.5 Grendel bolt action data I realized my bolt head was correct for the Grendel. I found a take off barrel from a Gen 2 American and we were off. 16.5" barrel and the magazines (Ruger mini 30) work fine.
120 gr BT with 30.9 gr of Leverevolution. avg 2397 sd 5.1 for 5 shots. Next dilemma, I am limited to the relatively short magazine length. If I change the stock to one which will accept AICS magazines and use the MDT 6mm ARC mags I will gain .1" in available length. I did swap stocks with a friend to see if it would feed when the rifle was a 7.62x39 and it fed fine.
The Mini 30 mags feed but are a bit of a pain with the last round hold open feature. I have modified one follower and it works. Question does anyone have an American with the AICS mags and how do they feed for you.

I have two that use AICS with after market stocks. No issues with feeding. Only down side for me are cost and weight of mags.
