I bought the 18” barrel, bolt and a gas tube yesterday, the MDB promo code didn’t work.
The fine print for the promo code specifically excludes barrels.

I entered the code and clicked “apply code” it didn’t change the pricing in the checkout section...
          Now the bigger question:
Is the barrel going to be a shooter or is this a “Gateway Drug” and then I’ll spend $600 in the next 3 months to buy a Krieger, bartlien, lilja, etc. ?
Black Rifle Disease is incurable in my house...

Yeah. That’s what I was afraid of...
This may turn into a “hunting upper” and I’ll start a “target upper” with a high dollar barrel later on...

Most definitely a gateway. I started with a Stoner that's basically the same as the Brownell's, built a JP and am now working on a build with a Proof. And I'm even going to ask the latter if they'll do something custom
                Let's go Brandon!

If you guys get an 18” Brownell’s 6.5 Grendel get a measurement on the gas port. A forum member bought a 18” Brownell’s and it doesn’t seem to be over gassed like the Stoner barrels. He didn’t measure his gas port but he is running a standard gas block and isn’t over gassed. His Brownell’s barrels likes the 120 grain SMK’s.

I have 18" Brownell barrel now that loves to shoot 1" groups. It was kicking the brass out to hard (1 -2 o'clock) so I put on a adjustable gas block on and turned down the pressure. It now puts the brass into the "bucket" at 4 o'clock. I plan on having the 24" barrel trimmed down to 20" or 22". I've read that 24" barrels in a AR cause bulged brass with some powders due to pressure timing.

Lots of dwell time with a 24” tube. 4” more than the gas system was designed for by Eugene Stoner. An adjustable gas block is a good idea if you’re going to shoot a long barreled AR.
