    Finally Done!

I finally finished my Grendel (too bad I can’t shoot it until Jan when I get back from my Christmas trip).

I built it on Anderson upper & lower receivers, Bear Creek Arsenal 18” barrel and BCG (Black Friday specials, under $100 for both!), Magpul MOE fixed stock (A1 length), Triggertech match trigger (I LOVE THIS THING!), Hogue overmolded pistol grip, and JoeBob Outfitters gas block and stainless gas tube. I have a Vortex scope and one-piece Aero Precision cantilever mount.

BIG THANKS to BJ139 for the tip on using vise grips for the gas block roll pin, and to everyone for the advice and opinions here, which have helped guide me along the way. Below are pictures of the vise grip technique, and my take on the Brownells gas block index system, using a toothpick. It worked pretty good, it I won’t know for sure how well I matched them up until I get some range time.

Congratulations!! I think that you will like that set up. I love those stocks and use them on my own personal builds. Upgrade the trigger and you have a really nice rifle for not much money.

Never mind, I totally missed where you did upgrade the trigger. This is already a really nice rifle for not much money!

Yes, it worked great, once I could actually get the stinking roll pin started. I had to do it TWICE, because I took out the gas tube, meaning to put it in when the pin was almost through the first part of the gas block, because the gas tube kept falling whenever I’d try to compress the vise grips. somehow, I must’ve went greater than 1/4 turn adjustment on the vise grips , and the pin went a hair too far in to let the gas tube slide all the way into the block. Then trying to slightly back it out turned into pulling it out completely, so I had to start it all over again. Lol. But I never had the roll pin shoot across the room, just had about a thousand drops trying to start it.

Soon! Just got an email that my scope shipped. Rings should also be here by the time I get back. Our house sitters are old friends who moved from the area back visiting their family. Only one day gap between them leaving and our return, but a neighbor will take care of the dogs that day, so hopefully she’ll catch the delivery guy if he comes that day. Might have UPS change delivery to the local store, since they do that for free.

Anyway, we need to set up a range day for January.
