Looking for a Muzzle Device for 12.5" Pistol

The BA barrel arrived today, the Atlas handguard yesterday. I lapped the reciever the day before. Now Im just waiting (patiently ) on the complete pistol lower to arrive from PSA.

I thought I was just going to use an A2 birdcage and call it good. Now, after seeing how short it really is, I'm not so sure.

So whats the deal with a Kak flash cans? Cosmetic or do they help direct the blast forward, like the Bulgarian AK 4-piece flash hiders? Im thinking about then KAK can or the Bulgarian 4-piece. They're very effective on AK's.

Its a hunting rig, so, I'll be moslty solo but I think I still want to direct the blast/noise away, downrange. Dont care about flash suppression, which may sound strange after talking up the Bulgarian flash hider but that really does everything pretty well. Just not inline with what you would usually see on the front end of an AR.

I've used these from Midwest Industries on both 5.56 and 6.5 pistols, they work as advertised and do indeed divert the blast.

I have a Kak slimline flashcan on my 300 BLK pistol. What it does best is look cool, especially with just the flashcan protruding from the handguard. Second, it directs muzzle flash forward. Third, I guess it might direct some noise forward, but it is LOUD. On the other hand, The Kaw Valley Linear Comp I have on my 16” 300 BLK Carbine does an excellent job of sending noise downrange.

I'd like to see a test that proves those expensive add-ons "direct muzzle blast forward" better than a $6 thread protector. AR16C.jpg

I've got the KAK on my 12.5" BHW. Seems to do it's intended job, but have never shot it without it... so...

I thought the idea of a blast can was to cover a brake and divert the gas and sound to the front like a megaphone.
I have a combo brake/flash hider (flash increaser! ) on a 5.56 rifle. The bell definitely cuts down on side blast from that. And I've put a similar setup on my new Grendel.
Without a brake, though, it may not do much.
