Which muzzle device to pin/weld to a Lilja 14.5" barrel?

Really wanted a 14.5" barrel and was lucky enough to score one from Rebby's group buy, thank you very much btw Curt! This build originally was going to be a parts swap from existing parts I had on hand, but the tide turned and it become a full blown build from the ground up. It's currently set up as a pistol until I can figure out just what muzzle device I want to have p/w to make it a non NfA rifle. Currently been doing the shoot once clean procedure and everything seems to be working well, seems to be a soft shooter too.

This brings me to the permanently attached muzzle device which I want to do once and be done. I have on hand an Odin flash hider that resembles an A1 style hider that is currently installed, griffin armament tapered flash comp and a strike industries J-comp II. All bring me over the legal limit for a p/w job. I keep thinking a suppressor may be in my future but nothing in the short term as being poor paying for 2 kids in college is so much fun and if I p/w a muzzle device that hosts a particular brand suppressor I may be stuck with something that the future doesn't support. I really don't want to go the sbr route though I keep pondering just that at the moment, but this is destined to be a hunting rig and not all states play well with sbr's.

So I thought I'd ask the horde just what your thoughts are to tip me one way or another.

Parts scrambled together, some just temporary as time goes by:
    Lilja 14.5" barrel
    Aero matched upper/lower
Coda Evolution Carbon Fiber 13.5" handguard
    Vltor A5 receiver extension
    Tubbs flatwire spring
    Toolcraft bcg w/Maxim bolt
JP single stage trigger scavenged off another broken down lower, may change as time goes by
Samson 4 screw gas block, where 2 set screws are located at 5:00 & 7:00
A-2 grip that will be swapped out
Nikon M-223 3-12 scope & mount, future upgrade to be made

    Obligatory picture as she stands

Put whatever you would like. Pin and weld is not a forever thing.

I can grind off a weld and pull a pin in less then 10 mints.

So if down the road you want or have to change to a diffrent muzzle device the welded in pin can be removed, muzzle device changed out and repinned.

Thanks for the push A5 and I know you're correct, while I've never had to grind one off I do have an assortment of grinding implements to solve that issue which includes a dremel lol...wouldn't be my first choice as this would be where air-tools rule.

It's a very small weld. So a dremel with the proper stone should work just fine. Once the weld is off the pin comes right out.

I did just ordered a few tungsten weights to try out as while it seems soft shooting the brass is a bit forward than I like with the A5H1 buffer, I need a weight anyways for another one and have just been putting off a tungsten purchase so may as well kill two birds with one stone. I plan to fully run this out first prior to any P/W job anyways and that's the beauty of being able to test drive it as a pistol first!

The Coda hand guard is almost press fit tight with little no discernable slop, no need to index gas tube and seems have no flex when mounted. What I think I will like about this is how the carbon fiber feels in the hand on a cold fall/winter day as it's not cold or warm just neutral feeling compared to aluminum.

I agree with Big. Might be a consideration for you.

Oh 65Whelen, I do agree with Big but that's not happening at the moment. The wait is ticking down though as we have about 6 months to go till our first one is done! Right now it's double ear protection.

Wish this was ready for the woods, just got back from GA and the another 6.5 I took with a MI rail was cold as ice and it was only about 45 degrees out lol. Unsuccessful for me as nothing presented itself.

More break-in this weekend as I just added two tungsten weights to the buffer, wanna see how it ejects or if it chokes. Hindsight says I should started with one first.

Put a brace on it til you get the can. BKings has the SBA3 without buffer tube for 74.99. I like my VG65 Epsilon brake if you go straight pin and weld.

Rotn, oh I thought about bracing it as well as I have a spare shockwave in the parts box but then I would need to change out the receiver ext or spend a hundred bucks for one that plays well with a mil-spec style RE. The pin and weld doesn't cost me anything and I really want to use a real stock. Leaning towards the Odin FA at the moment, I should have made a poll lol.

Get the VG 6 gamma in 6.5 cal, it is IMO the absolute best and a nice price too, for a muzzle. will help in rise and recoil. I researched a bunch and have a few others, even the APA lil B*trd, but the gamma really outdoes them all.
