    JP Barrels accuracy

i want to know from those who really use the JP barrels on this forum, what is the observed MOA?

JP says its 1MOA or better, is it true, what do you get in practice and with what loads?

The 18 inch I use to own, would hold MOA are better with everything factory but sst and wolf fmj's.

My best friend owns that barrel now and after 6 thousand plus rounds it's still moa are better with the factory rounds he uses. Belive he is useing eld-m's and fusion ammo.

Lil box up in the right cornor opens up the coating options.

Mine had the black Teflon finish, still doesn't rust.

All these coatings are over rated anyways, keep the barrel clean and give it a light oil wipe from time to time and it will never rust.

but that black teflon is outside; however, what coating is inside?

(for example Faxxon offers inside and outside nitride salt bath coating, which i assume helps from corrosion greatly)

            Your over thinking it sir.

Pic a barrel based on the length and gas length and profile you want and go enjoy it. Your not going to beable to tell the difference in chamber/bore wear and tear are rusting between a coated and uncoated chamber/bore.

Well not unless you fire thousands of wolf fmj's and treat your gun like hot stanky garbage and leave it out in the weather and your vechicle.

The barrel you linked to is 416R stainless; it's unlikely to need any coatings on the inside, a process normally associated with harder-use/high-volume-in-a-short-time types of use. Most accuracy-oriented shooters don't want anything inside their bores.

I've been shooting a JP barrel for about 3 months now on a hunting rifle build. It shoots sub moa consistently with Federal gold metal 130gr Bergers. Did so right out of the box. Have done little load development because I've been lazy of late and having too much fun with a new 6.5g pistol.

You can buy anti corrosion protection from manufacturers like Zerust which will end up cheaper than chemical coatings. Any chemical coating on the inside of a match-grade stainless barrel is likely to stuff it up anyway. By all means coat the outside in whatever you want but my advice is to leave the inside pristine and just clean and oil as normal. The inside of the barrel is the gun.

I use corrosion prevention cord when not in use.

R2BRO, Let us know how it shoots when you get it assembled.
I've shot a few other factory loads from mine. Eld-m shot just ok, around 1.25" were my best group. It liked 120gr. PPU nearly as well.. I want to run some 107gr SMKs thru it but I probably won't start load development until after hunting season is over.

Been a fan of the Grendel from the very beginning and haven't second guessed that choice one time.

I've had my JP 22'' for 3 years and it does 1/2 MOA with 123 Scenars when I'm having a good day and is sub MOA even when I'm not. You'll be happy!
