  • Which Geissele Trigger?

Hey yall, I have decided to not skimp on the trigger and I am leaning heavily to a Geissele, but I am not sure if I want the SSA or the SSA-E. If the the SSA-E is all around better I am willing to spend the extra $20 for it, but if the difference is negligible or the SSA is better for hunting then I will just get that one.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Allen, I have both SSA and SSA-E...I like them both. i like the -E better but would go with SSA for a stalking gun

Both are great triggers, the SSA is 4.5 lbs and the SSA-E is 3.5 lbs. Neither is adjustable and neither needs to be they are great just as they come. I have several of the adjustable High Speed triggers and don't think they are worth the extra cost unless you are in competition where your trigger will be weighed and must make 4.5 lbs.

I have the SSE in my AA ultralight Grendel and would recommend it for hunting without hesitation. The only negative that I would mention is that in some situations when fired from the bench you will get bump fires if not single loading but never if fired from the shoulder under hunting conditions.

It is just a matter of personal preference as either trigger will allow accuracy greater than needed for hunting. I like the SSA-E better.

          SSA-E

Dangit-- now what's wrong with the board? I type in capital "S", "S", "E", "-", "A" and then the characters for the grinning smiley, and the board down converts and screws up the letter caps when I click to post???

ETA #2: Now after about seven tries (I'm stubborn) it works again? I think I need a vacation?...LOL

I went with a Geissele DMR - set first stage to 1 - 1.5lbs. and the second to 3lbs. I swap out uppers to use with that lower now when I shoot.

Ok, thanks everyone for your input. This is the lower build kit I'm probably going to get. I'll have to call them up and see if they can up grade it to a SSA-E for a bit more coin.

The DMR looks to be a good option, but at another $70 more then the SSA-E (at Midway USA) I'm still leaning toward the SSA-E.

What does it mean when it says large or small pin for a trigger type? I have an AA lower.

                Thanks,

We sell all the Geissele (Guyz'-lee) triggers and recommend the SSA-E to those that are unsure.

The SSA is a combat trigger with 4.5-5 lbs total pull weight. Great for True Tactical rifles (instead of the lookalikes).
The SSA-E is a 3.5 lbs total weight with about 2 on the first stage and 1.5 on the second. (great for around shooting).
The S3G is great for 3 Gun as its name implies. Carrot Stick break on a single stage. Bends just a bit before tripping. The beauty of this trigger is the lightning fast reset. Valuable in a high speed match shoot. Or in my Opinion in a lightweight hunting/stalking rifle.
The High Speed series are all the same except for springs that change pull weight. These are best in true match rifles. The Match Rifle model can be set very light - Total of 2+-2.5 lbs pull weight with 1.5 to 2 on the first stage and .7 to 1 on the second. The second stage sear is adjustable too.

And then there are the Dynamics. My personal favorite is the SD-E. This is a flat trigger shoe design that allows the fulcrum point of the trigger shoe to be as close to the trigger guard as possible - lightening the perceived feel. The finger can be dragged along the trigger guard and give movement feedback.

                    Hopefully this helps!

Well tear 'em up. My buddy just finished a 1 yr command tour in Afghanistan (training their air force of all things). He managed to get time in a Mi-8.

Where do you plan on hunting in NM?

Yeah, we have guys here doing the combat aviation adviser jobs where they train the afghans to fly and maintain their aircraft. No thanks. Those dudes are seriously idiots.
I dont hunt a whole lot, but I think I may tag along to Albuquerque with my buddies this year if I get back in time.
