AA Shilen Upgrade?

I am new to the Grendel and have acquired a complete AA rifle from a friend of a friend. The upper and lower were purchased from AA separately and the upper is mated to a 19.5" barrel. Looking and comparing to the AA website, the barrel sports the semi-long grayish 3/4x28 flash hider.

My first question is how can I tell if it is indeed the Shilen barrel upgrade? Secondly, should I swap out the flash hider for a muzzle brake or compensator?

Hi Daniel: Welcome to the horde.

Can you post pictures of your upper?

Do you know when your friend bought the upper originally from AA?

I thought the ones AA used to make with that flash hider were the GDMR's that had the Lothar/Walther barrels( at least mine did).
If you can post pictures we should be able to narrow it down for you.
