    Armaspec buffer weight?

I once had a JP capture system in a 5.56 and liked it pretty well. I have a Armaspec H buffer that was in a 5.56 and put it into my 16” barrel mid length Grendel. Seems to run well. So I’m looking at getting 2 more Armaspec silent buffers , one for a 12” barrel Grendel and one for a mid length 18” barrel Grendel. Should I use the H or H2 in the 12” and which in the 18” ?

I wish I had some good advice for you on this one but I don't. I tryed the armaspec in my 12 inch grendel and it didn't make it 200 rounds and the spring was basically shot and the shaft broke completely in half.

Thankfully it didn't damage anything else, so I thrash caned it and put the JP scs back in.

All my guns run on adjustable gas blocks and I had it dialed in to barely lock back the bcg just like I would with a scs.

I guess it's possible I just got a lemon the first time I tried the armaspec but I never tired a second one, the scs just is to higher quality and worth the extra money to me

If you have adjustable gas you can run by weight buffer system you want.

Thanks for that input and information. I ran a JP scs in a 5.56 and never an issue. Worked well. Think I got the Armaspec on a sale so decided to try one. It’s worked well in a 5.56 and seems good in the Grendel but I’ve not even gotten more than maybe 50 rounds with it in the Grendel. I agree the JP is a better built system. Which weights you using in your 12”? The H2 version?

I use the lightest factory weight scs they make. I use lowmass bcgs and adjustable gas systems on my guns now, so I can run whatever weight of buffer system I want. But I just get the stock weight scs, drop it in and forget bout it.

I'm not saying the armaspec is a bad product. I could have very well got a factory once in a lifetime lemon.

Understand. I’m running adjustable gas blocks but I’m seriously considering going back to Standard low profile blocks. I don’t run suppressed. I just set it on my lowest hand loads and never touch it. So basically it’s just a possible week link and maintenance. I’m contemplating just staying with JP super 42’s and buffer. Same reason as standard gas block. I admit the JP scs and Armaspec do give a smoother feel and perceived lighter barrel jump / recoil.
