Wow, that's light. I have a Fortis Rev 12" on my carbine and thought it was light at 9.2 ounces. If you are an Iraq or Afghanistan veteran please visit this site, you've earned it.

As for the hand-guard weight...Compared to the weight of a barrel it's not really that impressive. A hand-guard weighs 5oz plus or minus a couple of ounces. Your barrel however weighs seven times as much. A 16" Lilja is 2.18lbs (35 oz). Longer barrels, even heavier so if weight is an issue then barrel profile, length and fluting is where you're going to make a difference. For me, hand-guards are more about ergonomics and stability, especially when shooting prone.

I've been using SLR keymod HGs and they might me lighter than those and use a standard wrench to put them on. Also a little more coolness to the look. I'm using them with 18" fluted barrels and you can feel the weight difference big time from non fluted barrels.
Now I will be getting a scale to do weight comparisons. Any brands of scales recommended for weighing parts like complete uppers? Or lowers with stocks?
