The thread on gas blocks brought up a question I have on dimpling barrels and the pros and cons. My barrel is un-dimpled and has no flat. Should I dimple it? Will dimpling cause any problems with accuracy or would I be best to just purchase a block that clamps on. I guess a case of poor forethought by a first time builder when I purchased the parts.

A clamp-on gas block is all you need in your situation, but a set screw works as well, when Red loc-tite is used. I have plenty of guns without the dimples, using set screw blocks.NRA Basic, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, RSO
