Thanks, Gents, for your continued input.

StinkyCoyote: Would you mind sharing the barrel length of your rifle?

A5Blaster: How about some shot placement information?

CaptnC: Care to identify which bullet was used?

If you gentlemen would update your posts, I can add your kills to the database and upcoming chart sets.

    Thanks, again!

Just to remind everyone wishing to contribute, the format for posting a kill is:

    BULLET:
    BARREL LENGTH (IN.):
    WHAT ANIMAL SHOT:
    APPR DISTANCE SHOT (M/YDS):
WHERE IN THE BODY IT WAS SHOT:
    DISTANCE TRAVELLED AFTER SHOT (M/YDS):

      Factory 123 SST
16” Lite AA bbl. (my wife’s and she is the shooter)
      White tail spike
      65 yards
Bullet entered low shoulder through part of heart and exited opposite side just rear of lower front shoulder
Ran 70 yards and dropped (it amazes me he ran at all with that shot placement)

      Factory 123 SST
      Faxon 18” group buy
      Whitetail spike
      70 yards quartering away
Bullet entered behind left shoulder and exited front chest
      Ran 60 yards and dropped

Just for clarification - how many deer? How many shots?

For everyone’s interest, while I appreciate the posts, data entry works best when all of the information is present, and preferably in a consistent format. If you have additional information beyond the "statistical stuff" to share, please do so but provide it as a separate part of the report.

A couple examples might be as follows:

            Animal #1
            Bullet 123 SST
            Barrel Length 16"
            Animal Shot Cotton Tail Rabbit
            Distance Shot 140 yds
            Shot Placement Head
            Distance Travelled after shot DRT
Optional Notes Results were devastating. Rabbit stew went everywhere! Mercy killing - it turns out that I saved it from a strange, noisy predator, which I shot at, next.

            Animal #2
            Bullet 123 SST
            Barrel Length 16"
            Animal Shot Tasmanian Devil
            Distance Shot 150, 100, 75, 50, 5 yds
Shot Placement Head, Neck, Chest, Legs, Feet
Distance Travelled after shot 151 yards
Optional Notes Darn thing wouldn't die, even though I put 5 rounds into it. Charged from where it was first shot, making a horrible screeching/spitting noise while spinning like a tornado along the way. Uttered something about "Rabbit Season" and tore me up. Resulted in high medical bills. I will soon be able to sit without a pillow.
Finally, here is and explanation for those of you who are curious.

The data being compiled is represented in the following way:
            • To keep the "Shot / Ran" chart clean, the "Shooting Range" is rounded to the nearest 50 yards, while "Distance ran" is rounded to the nearest 25 yards.
            • If shooting distance is estimated as "near to far", the entry will be recorded as the split between the two. Eg. "Between 80 and 120 yards" is recorded as 100 yards.
            • Reports with multiple animals are averaged (shot distance, run distance) unless the data for individual animals is provided. Eg. “Three deer shot. Between 50 and 200 yards. Most went less than 20 yards.” becomes 3 entries of 1 deer each, shot at 85 yards, running 20 yards apiece.
            • Missing data, such as Bullet Selection, Shooting Distance, Distance Ran will only affect the chart component related to the absent information. If shooting range or distance ran are omitted, then the kill cannot be reported in the main chart. If either the bullet selection or animal are not provided, then the accompanying game / bullet table will not reflect your kill(s).

Lastly, if multiple animals are reported, but with no counts or approximations, an entry in either table is not possible. While we can all appreciate the desire to represent our kills, a report similar to “I killed 30-45 hogs last year, some DRT, some ran 20 yards” should preferably be refined into kill reports similar to those shown above. Otherwise, if you still feel the Horde needs to know how you did, feel free to start a bragging rights thread, or add to an existing one.

Bigs - congrats on the hog, and bummer about the Deer. Please, do not be shy about posting up the less successful hunts, as well. It lends more validity to this survey when you do. If everyone only posted the success stories, then any and all rounds would become one-and-done "super bullets".

Doe shot 1/4 away on right side at first rib. Bullet turned back went through left rear qtr stopping in hide. Bullet seemed to act much like an SST. 50% of the core and jacket found together. Second shot required to head.
